The sole licensed TB vaccine, Mycobacterium bovis Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG), shows variable efficacy, particularly among adolescents and adults, underscoring the pressing need for more effective vaccination strategies. The administration route is crucial for vaccine efficacy, and administration via the skin, being rich in immune cells, may offer advantages over conventional subcutaneous routes, which lack direct access to abundant antigen-presenting cells.

Background: Myoclonus and other jerky movement disorders are hyperkinetic disorders, the diagnosis of which heavily relies on clinical neurophysiological testing. However, formal diagnostic criteria are lacking, and recently the utility and reliability of these tests have been questioned.

The farnesoid X receptor (FXR) is a nuclear receptor (NR) known to obligately heterodimerize with the retinoid X receptor (RXR). FXR is expressed as four isoforms (α1-α4) that drive transcription from IR-1 (inverted repeat-1) response elements (REs). Progressive myoclonus ataxia (PMA) is a rare clinical syndrome characterized by the presence of progressive myoclonus and ataxia, and can be accompanied by mild cognitive impairment and infrequent epileptic seizures. This is the first study to describe the natural history of PMA and identify clinical, electrophysiological, and genetic features explaining the variability in disease progression. SARS-CoV2 infection results in a range of disease severities, but the underlying differential pathogenesis is still not completely understood. At presentation it remains difficult to estimate and predict severity, in particular, identify individuals at greatest risk of progression towards the most severe disease-states. Outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) are nanometer-sized membrane blebs secreted by all Gram-negative bacteria to facilitate bacterial communication and modulate the external environment, including in the context of host-microbe interactions. releases OMVs during interactions with epithelial cells; however, beneficial functional activities for these OMVs have not yet been demonstrated.
