Background: Adamantane derivatives, such as memantine (Mem) and amantadine (Ada), have distinct mechanisms and therapeutic applications. Ada is primarily utilized as an antiviral and anti-Parkinson drug without significant pro-cognitive effects, Mem is effective in various clinical conditions characterized by cognitive deficits, including Alzheimer's disease. Recent evidence highlights a neuroprotective role for Aβ monomers, suggesting that preventing their aggregation into toxic oligomers could be a promising therapeutic strategy.

The development of AF is based on anatomical and functional alterations in the cardiomyocyte resulting from altered ionic fluxes and cardiomyocyte electrophysiology. Electric instability and electrical remodeling underlying the arrhythmia may result from oxidative stress, also caused by possible mitochondrial dysfunction.

The presence of two cavities can improve the stability of inclusion complexes, working as a hydrophilic sandwich of poorly water-soluble species. Here, we designed new β- and γ-cyclodextrin dimers functionalized with biotin as a targeting unit and tested the new bioconjugates as doxorubicin delivery systems in cancer cells.

Therefore, the stem and root bark of the plant species Morinda lucida L. were used in this research, while the extraction procedure was performed using three extraction techniques: HAE (homogenizer extraction), UAE (ultrasound extraction) as modern, and MAC (maceration) as conventional extraction technique.

Inhaled sedatives are a promising alternative with favorable pharmacokinetics and potential benefits in critical care settings.

Many chelators can manipulate the levels of metal ions within cells and effectively modulate the metal excess. In some cases, chelators show significant toxicity to cells.

Unlike PRL excess, whose clinical features and treatments are well established, hypoprolactinemia has been only recently described as a morbid entity requiring prompt identification and proper therapeutic approach. Particularly, hypoprolactinemia has been reported to be associated with the development of metabolic syndrome and impaired cardiometabolic health, as visceral obesity, insulin-resistance, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidaemia, chronic inflammation, and sexual dysfunction have been found more prevalent in patients with hypoprolactinemia as compared to those with normoprolactinemia.

Among the virtuous materials, chitosan emerges as a valid alternative to conventional polyethylene films because of its abundance in nature. In this work, a novel film for food wrapping was developed by exploiting shellfish waste according to a vision of circular economy.

Methods: Between March 2017 and February 2022, 56 patients undergoing percutaneous transverse pinning for unstable metacarpal fractures were prospectively recruited.

In recent years, nanoparticles based on cyclodextrins have been widely investigated, mainly for drug delivery. In this work, we synthesized nanoparticles with a hyaluronic acid backbone (11 kDa and 45 kDa) functionalized with γ-cyclodextrins. We tested sorafenib in the presence of the new hyaluronan-cyclodextrin conjugates in A2780 (ovarian cancer), SK-HeP-1 (adenocarcinoma) and MDA-MB-453 (breast cancer) cell lines.

Objective: This work aims to dissect glucose metabolism during and after pregnancy in patients with prolactinomas.
Methods: A total of 52 patients treated with cabergoline (CAB) were evaluated before conception, during pregnancy, and up to 10 years after delivery.
Despite decades of research, Parkinson's disease is still an idiopathic pathology for which no cure has yet been found. This is partly explained by the multifactorial character of most neurodegenerative syndromes, whose generation involves multiple pathogenic factors. In Parkinson's disease, two of the most important ones are the aggregation of α-synuclein and oxidative stress.
