Background And Objective: Due to the potential debilitating sequelae following pediatric mTBI, the CDC published the Guideline on the Diagnosis and Management of mTBI Among Children in 2018. However, the guideline identified several key gaps in our clinical knowledge to support several clinical recommendations. The objective of this review is to evaluate if subsequent research has addressed these gaps in clinical practice recommendations.

Background: The epidemiology of idiopathic pediatric epilepsy globally continues to be defined. To date there has been no evaluation of how national food availability may associate with the incidence and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) lost from this condition. Correspondingly, the aim of this study was to define if such associations exist.

Argentina-Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative: pioneering Alzheimer's Research in Latin America and its Implications for Regional Advancement.

The Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) has fostered collaboration among researchers around the world, catalyzing innovation and accelerating progress in the field. In Latin America, this initiative advanced the validation and development of Alzheimer's disease biomarkers for the first time in our region. In 2011, as part of the international ADNI, Argentina-ADNI (Arg-ADNI) was founded.

Toward repositioning the antitubercular clinical candidate SQ109 as an antimalarial, analogs were investigated for structure-activity relationships for activity against asexual blood stages of the human malaria parasite pathogenic forms, as well as transmissible, sexual stage gametocytes. We show that equipotent activity (IC) in the 100-300 nM range could be attained for both asexual and sexual stages, with the activity of most compounds retained against a multidrug-resistant strain. The multistage activity profile relies on high lipophilicity ascribed to the adamantane headgroup, and antiplasmodial activity is critically dependent on the diamine linker.

Molecular mimicry in multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a severe, post-infectious sequela of SARS-CoV-2 infection, yet the pathophysiological mechanism connecting the infection to the broad inflammatory syndrome remains unknown. Here we leveraged a large set of samples from patients with MIS-C to identify a distinct set of host proteins targeted by patient autoantibodies including a particular autoreactive epitope within SNX8, a protein involved in regulating an antiviral pathway associated with MIS-C pathogenesis. In parallel, we also probed antibody responses from patients with MIS-C to the complete SARS-CoV-2 proteome and found enriched reactivity against a distinct domain of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein.

Neurological improvement following revision of vascular graft remnants in the upper extremity.

Remnant vascular grafts may result in significant neurological deficits owing to compression of adjacent neural structures. We report this finding in two cases after extracorporeal membrane oxygenation decannulation and removal of an arteriovenous fistula in the upper extremity. In both cases, removal of the graft, patch arteriotomy, and external neurolysis resulted in significant recovery of neurological function.
