Pharyngocutaneous fistula (PCF) after laryngectomy occurs when there is a failure in the pharyngeal repair resulting in a salivary leak (Dedivitis et al. in Acta Otorhinolaryngol Ital 27(1):2-5, 2007). In the post-operative period this complication is not only a challenge to the surgeon but also distressing to the patient and his family.
