To compare the incidence of nephrotoxicity in trough-based dosing group with the single trough-based AUC dosing at the Salem VA Medical Center. This retrospective study included patients who received trough-based dosing of vancomycin between January 1, 2017, and January 1, 2019 (preimplementation group) and AUC-based dosing (postimplementation) between October 1, 2019, and October 1, 2021, at the Salem VA Medical Center.

The mental health of adolescent girls from a tribal region of Central Rural India during the COVID-19 pandemic - A cross-sectional study to determine the role of gender disadvantage.

Objectives: The mental health of adolescent girls in countries of South Asia is related to several social and cultural factors including gender disadvantage, especially in low resource settings such as tribal areas. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has increased this vulnerability even further. This study assesses the association of gender disadvantage with psychological distress among adolescent girls residing in a tribal area of India and examines the role of resilience.

Multiple renal veins clogging the hilum of the right kidney.

Knowledge of variations of renal vessels is of utmost importance in retroperitoneal surgeries and kidney transplant surgeries. We report concurrent variations of the right renal vessels, observed in an adult male cadaver during dissection classes. The right kidney was supplied by three renal arteries, out of which two entered the kidney through the hilum and the other one entered through the lower pole of the kidney.

We report a rare combination of venous variations observed at the abdominopelvic junction of an adult male cadaver. The right common iliac vein was absent.

Sternohyoid, sternothyroid, omohyoid and thyrohyoid muscles belong to a group of muscles called infrahyoid muscles. A few variations of these muscles and additional muscles in this area have been reported. We report an anomalous muscle in this area.

Septic arthritis due to Nocardia: Case report and literature review.

Nocardia is an uncommon cause of septic arthritis. We found only 37 cases reported in the literature thus far. Amongst these, only five involved prosthetic joints.

A case report of satisfactory post-left knee replacement pain control after switching from oxycodone to buprenorphine.

This case report demonstrates using buprenorphine 32 mg to achieve adequate pain control after a total knee replacement. The patient stopped buprenorphine 48 hours before surgery. He was prescribed 150 tablets of oxycodone 5 mg.

Flexor digitorum accessorius (quadratus plantae) is a muscle of second layer of the sole of the foot. Though it is not a very important muscle in terms of movements or stability of foot, it could pose problems when it presents variations. We observed a novel, accessory slip of flexor digitorum accessorius.

Variant formation of left common iliac vein by the confluence of four veins.

Common iliac vein variations are relatively rare compared to the variations of external and internal iliac veins. A rare pattern of formation of common iliac vein by the confluence of four veins is being reported here. The left common iliac vein was formed by the union of left external iliac vein, internal iliac vein, iliolumbar vein and a common trunk formed by the obturator and vesical veins.

Unusual contribution of the first jejunal vein in the formation of the portal vein.

Jejunum is drained into superior mesenteric vein through a series of jejunal veins. The way in which the first jejunal vein terminates is of great importance in upper abdominal surgery and radiological procedures. Knowledge of its variations is particularly important in surgical procedures like orthotropic hepatic transplantation, hepatic vein reconstruction, pancreatic surgery and surgical procedures of duodenojejunal junction.

Innervation of the scrotum by the anterior division of the obturator nerve - a rare variation.

The scrotum is supplied by ilioinguinal, genital branch of genitofemoral, perineal branch of the posterior cutaneous nerve of the thigh and the posterior scrotal branches of the pudendal nerve. We report an extremely rare innervation of the anterior part of the scrotum by the anterior division of the right obturator nerve. The genital branch of genitofemoral nerve did not reach the scrotum.

Fenestrated Falx Cerebri and Additional Sinuses in the Tentorium Cerebelli.

Morphological variations of falx cerebri and tentorium cerebelli are extremely rare. The authors report an extremely rare type of combined variation of falx cerebri and dural venous sinuses in the tentorium cerebelli. During the removal of the brain from cranial cavity, it was noted that the anterior part of the falx cerebri had fenestrations and it looked like a mesh.
