Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as lornoxicam and parecoxib, have been found effective in managing post-operative pain after laparoscopic cholecystectomy, reducing the need for opioids.
In a study involving 108 patients, those given lornoxicam or parecoxib experienced significantly lower pain scores compared to those given a placebo, both at rest and during movement.
The results indicate that both lornoxicam (8 mg orally) and parecoxib (40 mg intravenously) are equally effective in reducing pain and the need for additional rescue pain medication post-surgery.
