Aim: To study the plasma proteome of patients with type 1 acute myocardial infarction (AMI) to identify potential markers for long-term prognosis of the risk for developing cardiovascular complications.
Material And Methods: The study included 64 patients with type 1 AMI with and without ST segment elevation who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention upon admission. The following information on cardiovascular events was collected for 36 months after admission: death from cardiovascular pathology, recurrent AMI, stroke, repeat myocardial revascularization and/or endarterectomy.
Introduction: The mechanisms of the SARS-CoV-2-triggered complex alterations in immune cell activation and production of cytokines in lung tissue remain poorly understood, in part because of the limited use of adequate tissue models that simulate the structure and cell composition of the lung . We developed a novel model of SARS-CoV-2 infection of lung explants, that maintains the intact tissue composition and the viral load for up to 7-10 days. Using this model, we studied cytokine production during SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Objective: To study the relationship between brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and the severity of nocturnal hypoxemia in patients in the acute and early recovery period of ischemic stroke (IS).
Material And Methods: We enrolled 44 patients (27 men, 17 women), aged 18-85 years, in the acute phase of IS. At 3-month follow-up, 35 people were examined (21 men and 14 women).
The paper presents the first experimental observation of an atypical phenomena during self-organization of dust particles into a one-dimensional chain structure levitated vertically in the plasma of a DC glow discharge. Using a laser, the third (middle) dust particle was removed from the chain of five particles so that the positions of the remaining particles did not significantly change, and a vacancy occurred in the place of the removed particle. This state of the chain turned out to be very stable, which is confirmed by the observation of the subsequent exchange of places of the fourth and the fifth particles of the chain upon the action of the laser on the forth particle.

Plaque progression and destabilization are driven by the infiltration of immune cells and the cytokines that mediate their interactions. Here, we attempted to compare the systemic cytokine profiles in the blood plasma of patients with atherosclerosis and the local cytokine production, using ex vivo plaque explants from the same patients.

Despite rather high toxicity cationic surfactants are of importance as antimicrobial agents, gene nanocarriers and mitochondria targeted ligands. To minimize this limitation, cationic amphiphilic matrix undergoes modification with various functional groups.

The main class of drugs currently used for the treatment of AD are the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) inhibitors. In this study, it has been shown that Aβ augmented AChE activity in vitro, maximum activation of 548 ± 5% was achieved following 48 h of incubation with 10 μM of Aβ, leading to a 7.

According to previous studies, it remains unclear which cytokines influence the development of this syndrome and whether their increase is associated with the presence of excess weight/obesity or is an independent factor. The aim of our research was to determine the parameters of chronic inflammation in women with PCOS in comparison with healthy women in the normal weight and the overweight subgroups.

In this study, we established an immunoassay to detect circulating autoantibodies against L1 proteins in human blood. Using this assay in >2,800 individuals with or without cancer, we observed significantly higher IgG titers against L1-encoded ORF1p and ORF2p in patients with lung, pancreatic, ovarian, esophageal, and liver cancers than in healthy individuals.

Objective: To study serum quantities of neuron specific enolase (NSE), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and NR2-antibodies (NR2-ab) in various cerebrovascular pathology and assess their value as a panel used as a diagnostic and predictive tool for stroke.
Material And Methods: NSE, GFAP and NR2-ab serum levels were measured twice for 84 patients with ischemic stroke (IS) and 8 patients with hemorrhagic stroke (HI), once for 8 patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA), 26 patients with chronic brain ischemia (CBI), 27 healthy volunteers (HV).
Results: NSE and GFAP levels were significantly higher in IS than in CBI and HV patients, and NR2-ab levels in IS were higher than in TIA and lower than in HV.

The identification of novel potential biomarkers that might help to predict the onset of VAS and its progression could improve the management of this group of patients. In the current study, the levels of intercellular cell adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), platelet/endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1 (PECAM-1), NSE (neuron-specific enolase), and the antibodies recognizing NR-2 subunit of NMDA receptor (NR-2-ab) were measured in the blood serum of BC survivor patients with vestibulo-atactic syndrome (VAS) and associated with the brain connectome data obtained via functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies.

However, these data were obtained using either cultured cells, or animal models, while in human postmortem material, cilia impairment has not been described yet. Here, we present direct observation of cilia impairment in SARS-CoV-2-infected bronchial epithelial cells using transmission electron microscopy of the autopsy material.

We present the results of an experimental and analytical study of the structural and dynamic properties of a monolayer consisting of dust grains in an electrostatic trap in an RF discharge plasma. The possibility of forming a monolayer with an isotropic distribution for interparticle distance and kinetic energy of particles in the structure has been experimentally shown. Isotropy has crucial importance for the study of various processes in such systems, including the kinetics of phase transitions, the formation of directed flows, wave propagation, and others.

To date, there are no data on the safety and efficacy of the combined vector vaccine Sputnik V in patients with CLL. Here, we analyzed and compared the magnitudes of the antibody and T cell responses after vaccination with the Sputnik V vaccine among healthy donors and individuals with CLL with different statuses of preexposure to coronavirus.

Firstly, the chitosome composition based on phospholipids, cholesterol, chitosans (Cs) of different molecular weights, and its arginine derivative was developed and optimized. The use of the polymer modification led to an increase in the encapsulation efficiency toward rhodamine B (RhB; ~85%) and 2-PAM (~60%) by 20% compared to conventional liposomes.
