B cells are fundamental players in the pathophysiology of autoimmune diseases of the central nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). A deeper understanding of disease-specific B cell functions has led to the differentiation of both diseases and the development of different treatment strategies. While NMOSD is strongly associated with pathogenic anti-AQP4 IgG antibodies and proinflammatory cytokine pathways, no valid autoantibodies have been identified in MS yet, apart from certain antigen targets that require further evaluation.

The factors influencing the appearance of toxicity in samples of synthetic montmorillonite with a systematically changing chemical composition Na(Al, Mg)SiO(OH) nHO, which are potentially important for their use in medicine as drug carriers, targeted drug delivery systems, entero- and hemosorbents have been studied. In this review, we discuss currently available studies on the synthesis and properties of MQ copolymers. The data on methods of producing hydrolytic and heterofunctional polycondensation of functional organosilanes as well as the obtaining MQ copolymers based on silicic acids and nature silicates are considered. The ratio of M and Q monomers and the production method determine the structure of MQ copolymers and, accordingly, their physicochemical characteristics.

This work represents the results of the genetic identification of the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHF virus) strains isolated in the Crimean Federal District in conducting the epidemiological survey of the imported case of CCHF from Crimea in 2015. One sample of the serum from a patient and 61 pools (506 specimens) of ticks collected during the epizootiological survey of 6 administrative districts of the Crimean Federal District were tested using PCR for the presence of the CCHF virus RNA. RNA of the CCHF virus was detected in serum from a patient and 10 samples of ticks.

We present the evidence showing that small fractions of electrophoretically homogeneous immunoglobulin G (IgGs) from the sera of healthy humans and their Fab and F(ab)2 fragments oxidize 3,3'-diaminobenzidine through a peroxidase activity in the presence of H2 O2 and through an oxidoreductase activity in the absence of H2 O2 . During purification on protein G-Sepharose and gel filtration, the polyclonal IgGs partially lose the Me(2+) ions. After extensive dialysis of purified Abs against agents chelating metal ions, the relative peroxidase activity decreased dependently of IgG analyzed from 100 to ~10-85%, while oxidoreductase activity from 100 to 14-83%.

The genetic analysis of the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) virus circulating in Stavropol region during 2011 year was suggested. A total of 14 RNA isolates from the Crimean hemorrhagic fever patients were genetically typed. The genetic analysis of the CCHF virus stains based on M-segment sequences (positions 2607-2932) supported the circulation of the genotype Europe 1 in the Stavropol region of Russia.

The SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV) open reading frame 7a (ORF 7a) encodes a 122 amino acid accessory protein. It has no significant sequence homology with any other known proteins. To increase the sensitivity and specificity of detecting high-pathogenic avian influenza variant (HSN1), laboratory studies were conducted at low virus concentrations in water samples, by using magnetic immunosorbent (MIS) test systems and selective avian influenza virus concentrating units. MIS-based selective virus concentrating, followed by rapid assays (ELIZA and RT-PCR), detect the low concentrations (as low as 10 nm in 5,000 ml of water) of avian influenza A/H5N1 antigen and RNA. The method developed opens new avenues for indication of an avian influenza pathogen in different environmental objects, including the water of surface water reservoirs of unlimited volume, with varying pollutions and low virus concentrations.

Open reading frame 9b (ORF 9b) encodes a 98 amino acid group-specific protein of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus (CoV). We have recently shown that intact IgGs from the sera of healthy Wistar rats oxidize 3,3'-diaminobenzidine (DAB) in the presence and in the absence of H(2)O(2) similar to horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Here we demonstrate for the first time that the peroxidase and oxidoreductase activities of IgGs can efficiently oxidize not only DAB but also o-phenylendiamine, phenol, p-dihydroquinone, alpha-naphthol, and NADH but, in contrast to HRP, cannot oxidize adrenalin. In contrast to IgGs, HRP cannot oxidize phenol, p-dihydroquinone, or alpha-naphthol in the absence of H(2)O(2).

The feasibility of rendering erythrocytes magnetic and thereby creating magnetic biosorbents (MB Ss) through room temperature exposure to 25-37% iron (II) sulfate solution for 48 +/- 2 h, followed by exposure to 15-35% ammonia water solution for 48 +/- 2 h (with drying after each procedure) was demonstrated. The feasibility of immobilizing ligands on magnetic erythrocytes (ME) and obtaining biological magnetic immunosorbents (BMISs) for further use in EIAs for plague and tularemia antigens was demonstrated. The sensitivity of EIAs involving BMISs amounted to 10 ng/ml and 100 microbial cells per 1 ml.
