The quest for an esthetically pleasing smile is a key driver in seeking dental interventions aimed at achieving a more balanced and harmonious appearance. The purpose of this report is to discuss the restoration of conical lateral incisors in an 11-year-old patient. The treatment approach employed direct composite resin restorations associated with the Digital Smile Design (DSD) technology.

Fertility of predominantly Bos taurus beef cows exposed to fixed-time artificial insemination protocols with intravaginal inserts containing different amounts of progesterone.

The aims of this study were to: 1) evaluate the impact of intravaginal progesterone (P4) inserts containing different amounts of P4 on pregnancy rates of predominantly Bos taurus beef cows exposed to fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) using estradiol and P4-based synchronization protocols, and 2) evaluate the impact of delayed luteolysis on the fertility of cows receiving P4 insert with less P4. Cows (n = 1744) were randomly assigned to 1 of 3 treatments: 1) 2.0 mg of estradiol benzoate together with an intravaginal P4-releasing insert containing 1.

This study evaluated the effects of different sources (sulfate vs. hydroxychloride) of Cu, Mn, and Zn during feed restriction and a high-starch diet on heifer growth performance. Greening, or Huanglongbing (HLB), poses a severe threat to global citrus cultivation, affecting various citrus species and compromising fruit production. Primarily transmitted by psyllids during phloem feeding, the bacterium Liberibacter induces detrimental symptoms, including leaf yellowing and reduced fruit quality. Given the limitations of conventional control strategies, the search for innovative approaches, such as resistant genotypes and early diagnostic methods, becomes essential for the sustainability of citrus cultivation.

Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) remains a public health concern. Blood donors screened for HBV surface antigen (HBsAg) along with aspartate transaminase (AST)/alanine aminotransferase (ALT) could play a key in providing safe blood products. We investigated the features related to HBV infection among rejected blood donors in Luanda, Angola.

Unlabelled: The development and course of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are significantly influenced by inflammation and oxidative stress. Antioxidant therapy is a promising therapeutic option to enhance the clinical results of these individuals in this particular scenario. The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of curcumin, with or without piperine, on cytokines, fecal calprotectin (CalF), and oxidative stress enzymatic and non-enzymatic indicators in patients with IBD.

Atypical Metatarsal Fractures: Report of Five Clinical Cases.

Atypical fractures are well elucidated when they occur in the femur and are related to the use of bisphosphonates. Prolonged therapy with this drug leads to excessive suppression of bone remodeling, which makes the bone more brittle. In general, they are caused by minimal trauma or are atraumatic.

Speckle statistics as a tool to distinguish collective behaviors of Zebrafish shoals.

Zebrafish have become an important model animal for studying the emergence of collective behavior in nature. Here, we show how to properly analyze the polarization statistics to distinguish shoal regimes. In analogy with the statistical properties of optical speckles, we show that exponential and Rayleigh distributions emerge in shoals with many fish with uncorrelated velocity directions.

Pesticides are often detected in freshwater, but their impact on the aquatic environment is commonly studied based on single compounds, underestimating the potential additive effects of these mixtures. Even at low concentrations, pesticides can negatively affect organisms, altering important behaviors that can have repercussions at the population level. This study used a multi-behavioral approach to evaluate the effects of zebrafish larvae exposure to carbendazim (C), fipronil (F), and sulfentrazone (S), individually and mixed.

Guillain-Barré Syndrome in a Patient Receiving Anti-Tumor Necrosis Factor for Crohn Disease: Coincidence or Consequence?

BACKGROUND Antibodies against tumor necrosis factor alpha (anti-TNF-alpha) are currently widely used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), despite a number of reported adverse effects. Diverse neurologic syndromes, including the Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), an immune-mediated disease characterized by evolving ascending limb weakness, sensory loss, and areflexia, have been described in association with anti-TNF-alpha therapy. CASE REPORT A 45-year-old White woman was in follow-up with fistulizing ileocolonic Crohn disease using combination therapy (infliximab plus azathioprine) as CD maintenance therapy.

Involvement of GPR43 Receptor in Effect of on Murine Steroid Resistant Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Relevance to Pro-Inflammatory Mediators and Oxidative Stress in Human Macrophages.

Background: Cytokine storm and oxidative stress are present in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Individuals with COPD present high levels of NF-κB-associated cytokines and pro-oxidant agents as well as low levels of Nrf2-associated antioxidants. Is prolonged luteal phase a problem in lactating Holstein cows?

In this study, the main objective was to assess if long luteal phases could have causes other than pregnancy loss. We enrolled Holstein dairy cows ≥50 DIM from a commercial herd in Brazil from October 2016 to August 2017. All cows received an estradiol-based synchronization protocol, and, on the day of insemination (d 0), were randomly assigned either an AI or a placebo insemination (PBO) in a 3:1 ratio.

Translation and cross-cultural adaptation into Portuguese-Brazil of NuHISS, Enlight, and uMARS.

Background: Easy access to the Internet enables the creation of many online applications. In this sense, questionnaires were developed to evaluate the usability of health area online applications: the National Usability-Focused Health Information System Scale (NuHISS), the Enlight, and the User Version of the Mobile Application Rating Scale (uMARS). Those scales do not have a Portuguese (Brazil) version which is adequate to Brazil's culture.

Nursing terminology for the care of people with respiratory diseases and Covid-19.

Objectives: To build a specialized nursing terminology for the care of people with respiratory diseases and Covid-19 or who have respiratory diseases after Covid-19, based on ICNP®.

Method: Methodological study developed in two stages: (1) identification of the relevant concepts for the health priority chosen from the literature; (2) cross-mapping of the identified concepts with the concepts contained in ICNP® version 2019/2020.

Results: 9460 terms were extracted from the literature, of which 4065 terms were excluded because they were not related to the object of study and 5395 were submitted to the mapping technique, resulting in 290 constant terms in the ICNP® and 5134 non-constant terms.

Multifractal fluctuations in zebrafish (Danio rerio) polarization time series.

In this work, we study the polarization time series obtained from experimental observation of a group of zebrafish (Danio rerio) confined in a circular tank. The complex dynamics of the individual trajectory evolution lead to the appearance of multiple characteristic scales. Employing the Multifractal Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (MF-DFA), we found distinct behaviors according to the parameters used.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of direct-fed microbials (DFM) on health and growth responses of preweaning Bos indicus × Bos taurus (Gyr × Holstein) crossbred calves. Ninety newborn heifer calves (initial BW of 35 ± 4.0 kg) were used.

Pregnancy losses from fixed-time embryo transfer (FTET) to calving were evaluated in Bos indicus-influenced beef and dairy recipients. Data from 4366 FTET events were collected from Nelore × Angus recipient heifers, and from 38538 FTET events in Gir × Holstein recipient heifers and cows. In beef recipients, pregnancy losses were greater (P < 0.
