Aim Dentistry is routinely associated with aerosol generating procedures. It has been suggested that aerosol generating procedures may place the dental professionals at increased risk of infection from respiratory pathogens. In the absence of widespread testing of the dental workforce to ascertain the incidence of COVID-19, a web-based self-reporting survey captured self-isolation patterns in dental professionals.

Physiological Role of a Multigrain Diet in Metabolic Regulations of Lipid and Antioxidant Profiles in Hypercholesteremic Rats: Multigrain diet in hyperlipemia.

Objectives: The objective of the present study was to investigate the lipid and the antioxidant regulatory potential of a multigrain diet in laboratory animals with reference to lipid profiles, tissue lipid peroxidation and antioxidant status.

Methods: Two types of diets, with or without addition of cholesterol, were used in the study - a commercial diet and a formulated multigrain diet (with Sorghum vulgare, Avena sativa, Pennisetum typhoideum, Oryza sativa, Eleusine coracana and Zea mays grains). After a 10-week period of feeding the diets to albino rats the plasma, liver and fecal lipid profiles and the hepatic and renal antioxidant status of the animals that were fed the commercial and the formulated diets (with and without cholesterol addition) were assessed.

Ectomesenchymal chondromyxoid tumor: A rare case report.

Ectomesenchymal chondromyxoid tumor (ECMT) is a rare benign neoplasm of uncertain histogenesis, which exclusively involves the oral cavity, particularly the tongue. Clinically, it presents as slow growing, painless, firm, submucosal swelling exclusively occurring on the anterior dorsum of the tongue. Histopathologically, it comprised well circumscribed, unencapsulated lobular proliferation of fusiform and polygonal cells, with varying degree of cellularity, with neoplastic cells often seen in a myxoid, chondroid or hyalinized background.

Response to the 2014 Malcolm Pendlebury lecture.

A multigrain protein enriched diet mitigates fluoride toxicity.

Fluorosis is a major health problem in many parts of the world. The present work focuses on investigating the utility of nutrient and antioxidant rich grains- ragi, jowar, bajra, maize in formulation of basal, high carbohydrate low protein and low carbohydrate high protein diets in mitigating fluoride toxicity. Exposure to fluoride through drinking water not only significantly increased plasma glucose and lipid profiles, but also elevated both hepatic and renal lipid peroxidation, hepatic lipid profiles and G-6-Pase activity with a reduction in plasma HDL-C, hepatic glycogen content, hexokinase activity and antioxidant status.

Retention systems for implant-retained overdentures.

Use of the multi-cup denture for a severely resorbed maxilla: a clinical report.

Obtaining a satisfactory outcome for a patient with a severely resorbed maxilla can be extremely challenging. This clinical report describes the treatment of a patient with a history of multiple implant failures in the maxilla. A conventional upper complete denture had poor retention and so did not fulfil the patient's needs.

Pre-directional appliance: a new approach to correct shifted premaxilla in bilateral cleft cases.

Management of bilateral cleft lip and palate cases is a challenging task, and if the premaxilla is shifted to either side, it poses a problem for the surgeon to operate and also for the orthodontist to do the orthodontic alignment. The aim of this study was to reposition the shifted premaxilla for better retraction with presurgical infant orthopedics, thus reducing the tissue tension and further scarring which have detrimental effects on maxillary growth. The innovative technique with pre-directional (PD) appliance is easy to fabricate and use and works in this direction.

Antioxidant and ACE enhancing potential of Pankajakasthuri in fluoride toxicity: an in vitro study on mammalian lungs.

Fluoride toxicity occurs due to high concentrations of fluoride in water sources or anthropogenic causes. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of an Ayurvedic drug--Pankajakasthuri (PK)--in relation to fluoride-induced toxicity in mammalian lungs. The results indicated that sodium fluoride increased lipid peroxidation and decreased enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants in a concentration-dependent manner in lungs.

Application of bilateral pedicled buccal fat pad in wide primary cleft palate.

We have used the pedicled buccal fat pad in a patient with a wide unilateral cleft palate when there was tension in the nasal layer even after complete release. The levator muscle was dissected and repositioned and the nasal layer was released transversely at the site of maximum tension between the hard and soft palate. The pedicled flap was placed into this defect.

Predictive value of cervimetric labour patterns in primigravidae.
