Objectives: The 36-month XTEND (NCT03939767) multicentre, observational, prospective study examined the effectiveness of proactive treatment regimens of intravitreal aflibercept (IVT-AFL) 2 mg in treatment-naïve patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) in routine clinical practice. The 12- and 24-month outcomes from the XTEND UK cohort are reported.

Methods: Patients aged ≥50 years with nAMD planned to receive IVT-AFL 2 mg were eligible.

The Vision Performance Index (VPI) leverages natural human-technology interaction to evaluate visual function using visual, cognitive, and motor psychometric data over 5 domains: field of view, accuracy, multitracking, endurance, and detection. The purpose of this study was to describe a novel method of evaluating holistic visual function through video game-derived VPI score data in patients with specific ocular pathology.

Many Lamin A-associated proteins (LAAP's) that are key constituents of the nuclear envelope (NE), assemble at the "core" domains of chromosomes during NE reformation and mitotic exit. However, the identity and function of the chromosomal core domains remain ill-defined. Here, we show that a distinct section of the core domain overlaps with the centromeres/kinetochores of chromosomes during mitotic telophase.

Stacked implantation of two prosthetic iris devices for patients with iris defects: A modified surgical technique.

Purpose: Iris pigment deficiency in patients with oculocutaneous albinism (OCA) often causes debilitating photophobia, which is routinely managed by sequential intracapsular insertion of two aniridia rings. A common concern of this technique is the risk of segment interdigitation, which can lead to intraoperative complications.

Observations: In this report, we describe a modified technique through which both rings were stacked together and inserted simultaneously in a 62-year-old male patient with oculocutaneous albinism and a mild cataract.

This study examined the perceived effectiveness of medical cannabis for chronic pain management among middle-aged and older adults newly initiating medical cannabis.

Methods: Interview data from participants in a three-month pilot study were analyzed to assess the perceived effectiveness of medical cannabis on chronic pain and related outcomes.

Introduction: Undifferentiated abdominal pain in the emergency setting is frequently investigated with an intravenous contrast enhanced CT as a first line diagnostic test. However, global contrast shortages restricted the use of contrast for a period in 2022, altering standard practice with many scans performed without intravenous contrast. Whilst IV contrast can be useful to assist with interpretation, its necessity in the setting of acute undifferentiated abdominal pain is not well described, and its use comes with its own risks.
