A 59-year-old male patient who suffered from a systemically metastasized, large extrascleral uveal melanoma recurrence of the left eye presented with active hemorrhage from the tumor. He had undergone proton beam irradiation for an epithelioid ciliary body melanoma 4 years before presentation and was lost to follow-up. Magnetic resonance angiography showed vascularization of the lesion via the ophthalmic and maxillary artery.

Eight ligands were designed and synthesized using different strategies, including alkylation reactions, amide couplings, and Ugi multicomponent reactions. All the ligands bear carboxylate groups for the coordination of the lanthanide(III) ions, with the lanthanide(III)-sensitizing units consisting of the Tröger's base framework itself or attached benzamides.

We studied the involvement of certain caspases in excitotoxic retinal ganglion cell death, which was experimentally induced in Brown Norway Rats by application of the glutamate receptor agonist N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA).
Methods: Animals were injected intravitreally with one of six caspase inhibitors (against caspases 1, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9).
Background: The effect of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors triamcinolone and bevacizumab (Avastin) on serous pigment epithelial detachment (PED) related to age-dependent macular degeneration (AMD) was analysed retrospectively.
Patients And Methods: Data of 45 patients (45 eyes) were evaluated: 11 patients received an intravitreal injection with triamcinolone and 16 with bevacizumab. The remaining 18 patients received no therapy.
