Impact of COVID-19 on cardiac surgery outcomes.

Aim: This study aimed to assess the impact of COVID-19 infection on cardiac surgery outcomes in patients who contracted COVID-19 peri-operatively or had recently recovered from COVID-19.

Methods: The study prospectively enrolled 95 patients scheduled for cardiac surgery who had recently recovered from COVID-19. This formed the post-COVID-19 group.

Himalayan P wave in a patient admitted for cardiac surgery.

Giant or Himalayan P waves are tall and peaked, the most prominent in lead II, and generally indicate enlargement of the right atrium. It has been rarely seen in clinical practice. The mechanism of Himalayan P wave formation is most likely related with prolonged conduction of electrical impulses through the enlarged right atrium.
