This study investigates the complex interaction between ozone and the autoxidation of 1-hexene over a wide temperature range (300-800 K), overlapping atmospheric and combustion regimes. It is found that atmospheric molecular mechanisms initiate the oxidation of 1-hexene from room temperature up to combustion temperatures, leading to the formation of highly oxygenated organic molecules. Developing a process that performs the lignocellulosic biomass fractionation under milder conditions simultaneously with the depolymerization and/or the upgrading of all fractions is fundamental for the economic viability of future lignin-first biorefineries. Large variability in the individual response to even the most-efficacious pain treatments is observed clinically, which has led to calls for a more personalized, tailored approach to treating patients with pain (ie, "precision pain medicine"). Precision pain medicine, currently an aspirational goal, would consist of empirically based algorithms that determine the optimal treatments, or treatment combinations, for specific patients (ie, targeting the right treatment, in the right dose, to the right patient, at the right time). Answering this question of "what works for whom" will certainly improve the clinical care of patients with pain.

The low-temperature combustion kinetics of dimethyl ether (DME) were studied by means of stabilized cool flames in a heated stagnation plate burner configuration using ozone-seeded premixed flows of DME/O. Direct imaging of CHO* chemiluminescence and laser-induced fluorescence of CHO were used to determine the flame front positions in a wide range of lean and ultra-lean equivalence ratios and ozone concentrations for two strain rates. The temperature and species mole fraction profiles along the flame were measured by coupling thermocouples, gas chromatography, micro-chromatography, and quadrupole mass spectrometry analysis.

This work reports on the selective on-line identification of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) formed in a low-pressure methane sooting flame, carried out using the double imaging Photoelectron Photoion Coincidence Spectroscopy method (i2PEPICO) on the DESIRS VUV beamline at the synchrotron SOLEIL. Generally, this work demonstrates the capabilities of the i2PEPICO method to identify PAHs in sooting flames, and in particular to distinguish cyclopentaring-fused PAHs (CP-PAHs) and side-substituted PAHs from their benzenoid isomers. Experimental threshold photoelectron spectra of four CP-PAHs: acenapthylene (C12H8, 152 m/z), acenaphtene (C12H10, 154 m/z), fluoranthene (C16H10, 202 m/z) and benzo(ghi)fluoranthene (C18H10, 226 m/z) are also reported for the first time.

The estimated probability of progressing from phase 3 analgesic clinical trials to regulatory approval is approximately 57%, suggesting that a considerable number of treatments with phase 2 trial results deemed sufficiently successful to progress to phase 3 do not yield positive phase 3 results. This article summarizes the results of a meeting convened by the Initiative on Methods, Measurement, and Pain Assessment in Clinical Trials (IMMPACT) on key considerations and best practices governing the design of acute pain clinical trials. Methods: Patients with PHN ≥ 3 months, who had completed participation in a phase 3 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of the safety and efficacy of G-GR in PHN, who wished to continue treatment with G-GR, and who the investigator thought would benefit from study participation received G-GR 1800 mg as an asymmetrically divided dose (600 mg AM/1200 mg PM) for an additional 14 weeks.
