Objective: The integrity of the plantar flap is important for transmetatarsal amputation (TMA) classic closure. However, in ischemic wounds, the plantar flap can be compromised, making the TMA coverage difficult. The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of rotational vs long plantar flaps for transmetatarsal amputation closure in patients with dysvascular partial foot amputations.

Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death in contemporary times. Arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis, arteriolosclerosis, and Monckeberg's arteriosclerosis are terms that are often used interchangeably, but they refer to different vascular pathologies. The objective of this study is to review the concepts of atherosclerosis, atherosclerosis, arteriosclerosis and Monckeberg medial calcific sclerosis (MMCS).

Objectives: To investigate whether the results of bone and deep tissue cultures from patients with trophic limb ulcers coincide.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted with data from 54 patients with deep trophic limb ulcers admitted to the Complexo Hospitalar Universitário Professor Edgard Santos, Salvador (BA), Brazil.
A persistent sciatic artery is a rare congenital vascular anomaly. The most common complication is aneurysm. Clinical presentation may include symptoms resulting from arterial dilatation and ischemia caused by thrombosis or embolization.

However, in diabetics it can be difficult to interpret because the index may be excessively high because of calcification of the arterial tunica media.
Objective: To determine the frequency of high ABI in diabetics and to test for associations with sociodemographic variables.
Fistula between arteries and the gastrointestinal tract are a rare cause of gastrointestinal bleeding, but potentially fatal. The recognition and early treatment can modify the patient prognosis. We report a case of a patient with previous surgery for seminoma of cryptorchidic testicle, with massive lower gastrointestinal bleeding.

Methods: We included 161 patients with infrainguinal critical limb ischemia (CLI). We evaluated the clinical and arteriographic (number and presence of opacification of leg arteries) of the two groups of patients.
Paragangliomas is a pheochromocytoma of extra adrenal localization. The case report is a male, 55 years old who presented symptoms of adrenergic hyperstimulation associated to an abdominal mass diagnosed as paraganglioma by a biopsy. Because of its size, localization and vascularization, an aortography with embolization of the nutrient branches of the tumor was done pre-operatively.

Methods: Leg arteries and skin of 57 amputated lower limbs of diabetic (47.3%) and nondiabetic patients were histologically examined.
Objective: To investigate the possible link between symptomatic carotid atherosclerotic plaque and Chlamydia pneumoniae.
Background: Recently, several studies have demonstrated that there may be a possible link between Chlamydia pneumonia and carotid atherosclerosis, however the real role of Chlamydia pneumoniae is not completely understood.
Method: This is a prospective study with a total of 52 patients analyzed.
Context And Objective: Diabetic patients present high risk of having to undergo minor or major amputation during their lifetimes, because of ischemia or infection. The aim of this study was to identify and quantify risk factors for major amputation in diabetic patients with foot infections.
Design And Setting: Retrospective clinical-surgical trial at the Vascular Surgery Service of Santa Casa de São Paulo.
