A major role of coumarin-dependent ferric iron reduction in strategy I-type iron acquisition in Arabidopsis.

Many non-graminaceous species release various coumarins in response to iron (Fe) deficiency. However, the physiological relevance of these coumarins remains poorly understood. Here, we show that the three enzymes leading to sideretin biosynthesis co-exist in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) epidermal and cortical cells and that the shift to fraxetin at alkaline pH depends on MYB72-mediated repression of CYTOCHROME P450, FAMILY 82, SUBFAMILY C, POLYPEPTIDE 4 (CYP82C4).

Papillary Renal Cell Carcinomas Rewire Glutathione Metabolism and Are Deficient in Both Anabolic Glucose Synthesis and Oxidative Phosphorylation.

Papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC) is a malignant kidney cancer with a prevalence of 7-20% of all renal tumors. Proteome and metabolome profiles of 19 pRCC and patient-matched healthy kidney controls were used to elucidate the regulation of metabolic pathways and the underlying molecular mechanisms. Glutathione (GSH), a main reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger, was highly increased and can be regarded as a new hallmark in this malignancy.
