Background: Different oral appliances (OAs) have been proposed to control sleep bruxism (SB) detrimental effects on the stomatognathic system.
Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of different OAs on SB activity and masticatory muscle activity (sMMA) measured by EMG.
Methods: This longitudinal cohort study was conducted on 51 patients (21 M, 30 F, mean age 26,5 ± 3,5) suffering from SB diagnosed with a validated portable EMG-ECG holter and wearing different OAs: occlusal splints, functional appliance with metallic bites and clear aligners followed after 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months from delivery.
Currently the most important prognostic factor in lung cancer is the stage. In the current lung TNM classification system, N category is defined exclusively by anatomic nodal location though, in other type of tumours, number of lymph nodes is confirmed to be a fundamental prognostic factor. Therefore we evaluated the number of mediastinal lymph nodes as a prognostic factor in locally advanced NSCLC after multimodality treatment, observing a significant effect of the number of lymph nodes in terms of OS (p<0.

A three-modal strategy, comprising of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy has been shown to be essential for appropriate management. Current literature evidences the importance of radiation therapy in the adjuvant setting for local control of the disease, as part of a multidisciplinary treatment, with increment of progression-free survival rate, but also of disease-free survival.

For some patients, combination chemotherapy represents a valuable approach, although its use is often limited by the risks of increased toxicity as well as impairments in quality of life (QoL) that often outweigh the marginal efficacy benefit. Against this background, the use of taxanes, either paclitaxel or docetaxel, in combination with gemcitabine as first-line treatment of HER-2 negative MBC is supported by the evidence of the single-agent activity of these drugs, beneficial pharmacological interactions, different mechanisms of action and largely non superimposable toxicity profiles.
