Macrophages infiltrate adipose tissue as a function of obesity and may release factors that attenuate adipogenesis. Macrophage-conditioned medium inhibits human and 3T3-L1 adipocyte differentiation in culture, but underlying molecular mechanisms have yet to be defined.
