Purpose: To compare levator plication with resection in congenital ptosis.
Methods: Prospective comparative randomized trial involving 20 eyes of 20 patients with age > 4 yrs, simple mild-to-moderate congenital ptosis with good-to-fair amount of levator action were included. Patients were randomized to either levator resection or plication.
A combined optical positron emission tomography (OPET) system is capable of both optical and PET imaging in the same setting, and it can provide information/interpretation not possible in single-mode imaging. The scintillator array here serves the dual function of coupling the optical signal from bioluminescence/fluorescence to the photodetector and also of channeling optical scintillations from the gamma rays. We report simulation results of the PET part of OPET using GATE, a Geant4 simulation package.

This study examines the current status of immunization among 0-3 year old children in Bakersfield and identifies barriers that prevent families from immunizing their children. A survey research design using a stratified sampling method was employed to collect data from 207 randomly selected English and Spanish speaking households having at least one child between the ages of 0-3 in Bakersfield. The findings reveal that 49% of the parents had no shot cards regarding children's immunization status.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of 10 mm inferior oblique recession in horizontal strabismus with V pattern and primary inferior oblique overaction.
Methods: Ten patients of V esotropia and exotropia with primary inferior oblique overaction underwent 10 mm inferior oblique recession by the methods described by Park and Stallard. Pre- and postoperative V pattern, inferior oblique overaction and binocularity were assessed.
