Background: Breaking bad news (BBN) to patients and their relatives is a complex and stressful task. The ideal structure, training methods and assessment instruments best used to teach and assess BBN for anesthesiology residents remain unclear. Behavioral disorders can be a normal part of development of a child, or secondary to extraordinary life stresses or associated with a child's inherent disorder. In those children, each hospital visit represents a major challenge for the child, his parents and the hospital staff. Hence, a coordinated approach with a clear plan should be made in advance to minimize child's perioperative stress and to deliver a high quality service.

Purpose: Immediate postoperative adjustment after adjustable-suture strabismus surgery has been suggested as a viable alternative to the classic adjustment that is performed, usually within 6 to 24 hours after surgery. The purpose of this study was to compare the immediate postoperative eye measurements with those taken 24 hours postoperatively and to determine whether there was any significant difference between the 2 measurements.

Methods: This was a prospective study of strabismus patients who were candidates for muscle surgery using the adjustable-suture technique.
