- A study of 1,138 Salmonella strains from 28,199 samples in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, between 1985 and 1999 found that S. I 4,5,12:i:- was the most common serotype (21.2%), followed by S. agona (15.8%) and S. enteritidis (11.3%).
- There was a notable shift in the prevalence of these serotypes over time, with S. agona decreasing from 27% in 1985-1989 to 4% in 1995-1999, while S. enteritidis rose significantly from below 1% to 32.3% in the same period.
