Utilisation of a think-aloud protocol to validate a self-reported periodontitis questionnaire.

Objectives: The gold standard approach to diagnose periodontitis is based on clinical examination and radiographic investigations. This, however, is expensive, tedious, and not feasible in population-level assessments. The self-reported periodontitis questionnaire offers great benefit to facilitate larger epidemiological surveys.

Comparison of coronally advanced versus semilunar coronally repositioned flap in the management of maxillary gingival recessions.

Objectives: Maxillary gingival recessions can be managed by both semilunar coronally repositioned flap (SLCRF) and coronally advanced flap (CAF). The objective of this study was to compare SLRCF and CAF in terms of wound healing and periodontal parameters in the presence of magnification.

Materials And Methods: Thirty patients with Miller's class I gingival recession in maxillary anteriors and premolars were assigned to 2 groups including SLCRF and CAF.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare preprocedural dental anxiety levels and postprocedural pain perception in chronic periodontitis patients during conventional-staged root surface debridement (RSD) and single-stage RSD.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-seven adult generalized chronic periodontitis patients requiring RSD were recruited in this study. Preprocedural anxiety levels were assessed using a self-reported questionnaire and postprocedural pain perceptions were assessed using 0-10 cm visual analog scale.

Objective: Periostin is a matricellular protein highly expressed in periosteum, periodontal ligament and is essential for tissue integrity and maturation. It plays a role in collagen fibrillogenesis and is downregulated in periodontal disease. Biostimulation utilizing low-level laser therapy (LLLT) influences periodontal ligament fibroblast proliferation.

Assessment of non-carious root surface defects in areas of gingival recession: A descriptive study.

Background: The purpose of this descriptive study was to observe the distribution of four different classes of non-carious cervical root surface discrepancies in teeth with gingival recession. Additionally to explore the different treatment modalities in the literature for each of these defects.
