High spin polarization and low resistivity of FeO at room temperature have been an appealing topic in spintronics with various promising applications. High-quality FeO thin films are a must to achieve the goals. In this report, FeO films on different substrates (SiO/Si(100), MgO(100), and MgO/Ta/SiO/Si(100)) were fabricated at room temperature with radio-frequency (RF) sputtering and annealed at 450 °C for 2 h.

The combinations of heparin with other agents was reported not only to reduce the undesired effects of free heparin and increase the cellular uptake of the delivered molecules, but also is the basis for the design and development of multi-stimulation response systems to improve their killing cancer cell efficiency at the target positions. This study aimed to design a redox and pH dual-responsive anticancer system based on heparin for cisplatin (CPT) therapy.

Here, it is introduced into a gel polymer (poly(vinyl) alcohol (PVA)-table salt) for use as an electrolyte, and an electrode was constructed from graphene nanosheets for use as symmetrical solid-state supercapacitors. The graphene sheets are prepared by a pulse control plasma method and used as an electrode material, and were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, as well as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

The carbon dots are easily synthesized by one green step, the hydrothermal treatment of a carbon rod in a mixture of DI water and pure ethanol to obtain a blue fluorescence under UV light, which can be used directly as a fluorescence ink. The as-prepared carbon dot process give typical dots with a uniform diameter from 3 to 8 nm with a strong slight blue fluorescent.

The 2D-WO·HO nanoflowers structure is created by a fast and simple process at room condition. This cost-effective and scalable technique to obtain 2D-WO·HO nanoflowers illustrates two attractive applications of electrochemical capacitor with an excellent energy density value of 25.

Background: Transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) has become increasingly popular in the surgical treatment of thyroid cancer. However, its application in T3b disease has not been well-defined.
Methods: We conducted a quasi-experimental study on patients with an intraoperative diagnosis of T3bN0M0 differentiated thyroid carcinoma from January 2019 to January 2021 in our institution.

Objective: To determine whether environmental surface contamination with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) occurred at a provincial hospital in Viet Nam that admitted patients with novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and at the regional reference laboratory responsible for confirmatory testing for SARS-CoV-2 in 2020.
Methods: Environmental samples were collected from patient and staff areas at the hospital and various operational and staff areas at the laboratory. Specimens from frequently touched surfaces in all rooms were collected using a moistened swab rubbed over a 25 cm area for each surface.
Background: Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is the most common and bearable complication of herpes zoster (HZ). This pain may have negative impact on the patient's all aspects of daily life and health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Despite numerous advances in treatment, many patients remain resistant to the current therapy options.

Study Design: Fifty-one mother-newborn pairs were enrolled for neonatal EEG analysis in the quiet sleep stage from a birth cohort recruited at a prefecture hospital in Bien Hoa city, Vietnam. Relative EEG power in intra-burst-intervals and high-voltage-bursts in the trace alternant pattern were computed from EEG data during the quiet sleep stage.
The purpose of this research study was to assess the safety and surgical outcomes of endoscopic thyroidectomy applied via a unilateral axillobreast approach with CO2 insufflation to one-sided benign thyroid tumors in Vietnam. Only 1 patient of the 50 (2%) had a postoperative hematoma at the surgery site. Open surgical conversions did not occur.

However, in Vietnam, the utility of ALBI grade in clinical setting has not been adequately investigated.
Methods: This is a retrospective study of 110 patients with HCC treated with sorafenib from January 2010 to November 2018 at 2 tertiary hospitals in Vietnam.
Only limited data are available concerning the long-term outcomes of imatinib treatment among Vietnamese or Asian patients with unresectable or recurrent gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). Our study, which was conducted in 188 patients, aimed to assess the efficacy of imatinib mesylate against unresectable or recurrent GISTs. Imatinib had a high response rate and long survival.

Therefore, we conducted this retrospective descriptive study on 198 advanced HCC patients treated at 3 major hospitals in Northern Vietnam to describe demographic features, HCC risk factors, and correlation among them in patients with advanced HCC. This information will lead to prevention efforts and provide information for allocating funds for treatment.

We recruited 210 mother-newborn resident pairs in 2012 and 78 pairs in 2015 and followed them for 2 years to assess the children's neurodevelopment. As a control group, we used 120 mother-child pairs recruited in 2014 in the Ha Dong district of Ha Noi City, an unexposed area.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is a rare malignant bone tumor. It affects mostly young persons and has poor outcome with the present treatment. No improvement was observed since the introduction of chemotherapy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe performed whole transcriptome analysis of osteosarcoma bone samples. Initially, we sequenced total RNA from 36 fresh-frozen samples (18 tumoral bone samples and 18 non-tumoral paired samples) matching in pairs for each osteosarcoma patient. We also performed independent gene expression analysis of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded samples to verify the RNAseq results.

In the present study, we analyzed gamma oscillations of pulvinar neurons in the monkeys during a delayed non-matching to sample task, in which monkeys were required to discriminate 4 categories of visual stimuli (snakes, monkey faces, monkey hands and simple geometrical patterns). Gamma oscillations of pulvinar neuronal activity were analyzed in three phases around the stimulus onset (Pre-stimulus: 500 ms before stimulus onset; Early: 0-200 ms after stimulus onset; and Late: 300-500 ms after stimulus onset).

Recent behavioral evidence suggests that primates are also able to discriminate the level of threat posed by snakes, by responding more intensely to a snake model poised to strike than to snake models in coiled or sinusoidal postures (Etting and Isbell 2014). In the present study, we examine the potential for an underlying neurological basis for this ability.

This new deposition route has several advantages such as controlled conditions, applicability to complex shapes, no adverse effect of heating, and cost effectiveness. A mixture of hydroxyapatite and calcium phosphate hydrate is deposited on the surface of Ti-6Al-4V.

Here, we describe a strategy to protect recombinant proteins during the recovery process, based on the coexpression of a heterologous proteinase inhibitor acting as a 'mouse trap' against the host proteases during extraction. Replacing 6% sucrose with 3% or 1% sucrose in the maturation medium drastically decreased Ap Inv activity and amount in embryogenic tissues. This was accompanied by a decrease in the hexose pool that resulted in a lower starch deposition and protein amount in embryogenic tissues together with a lower embryo production.

An experimental approach using an initial period of partial water loss was developed to induce either no, partial, or complete tolerance to fast desiccation. Tolerance to subsequent fast desiccation was not promoted by decreasing embryo water content from 1.
