Background: The current gold-standard for detecting vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is the voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG). However, VCUGs require ionizing radiation and bladder catheterization that can be challenging to perform and traumatic for pediatric patients and their parents.
Objective: To investigate the feasibility of a novel urinary catheter-free modality for diagnosing VUR using in vitro and ex vivo models.

Background: Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death globally for people aged 5-29 years, with 90% of mortality occurring in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The STABLE (Slashing Two-wheeled Accidents by Leveraging Eyecare) trial was designed to determine whether providing spectacles could reduce risk among young myopic motorcycle users in Vietnam.
Methods: This investigator-masked, stepped-wedge, cluster randomised naturalistic driving trial will recruit 625 students aged 18-23 years, driving ≥ 50 km/week, with ≥ 1-year driving experience and using motorcycles as their primary means of transport, in 25 clusters of 25 students in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
This study investigated the feasibility of using/reusing commercial activated carbon (CAC) for the capture of high molecular weight and high-boiling point volatile organic compounds (HBPVOCs). The CAC was first characterized using proximate analysis, heat value analysis, iodine value analysis, element analysis, inductively coupled plasma spectrometry, and specific surface area analysis. We then assessed the adsorption/desorption performance of a CAC-based PSA system for the removal of Butyl Cellosolve (BCS), a HBPVOC commonly used in paints, coatings, cleaners, and industrial processes.

While dicotyledonous plants offer various tissues for in vitro culture and transformation, monocotyledonous plants, such as rice, have limited options. This study presents an efficient method for genetically transforming rice ( L.

Background: The increasing incidence and prevalence of childhood overweight (OW) and obesity (OB) are major global health challenges. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a 2-year healthy lifestyle intervention program in reducing the incidence of OW and OB among schoolchildren aged 11-12 years in Vietnam.
Methods: Study design: Randomized controlled trial.
Machine learning has the potential to be a powerful tool in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a critical global health issue. Machine learning can identify resistance mechanisms from DNA sequence data without prior knowledge. The first step in building a machine learning model is a feature extraction from sequencing data.

High-energy band-nesting excitons within parallel bands offer a promising and underexplored avenue for addressing this issue. Here, we exploit an exceptional D exciton cooling prolongation of 2 to 3 orders of magnitude compared to sub-picosecond in typical transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) owing to the complex Coulomb environment and the sequential and mismatch-valley relaxation.

The structural characteristics and morphology of the materials were analyzed using X-ray diffraction patterns and scanning electron microscopy images, respectively. The photoluminescence excitation spectra, emission spectra and decay curves of all samples were recorded at room temperature.

Studies looking at low power consumption accompanied by high-performance memory are essential for next-generation memory. Here, Graphdiyne oxide (GDYO), characterized by facile resistive switching behavior, is systematically reported toward a low switching voltage memristor.

In detail, the relationship between the TL glow peaks and the emission wavelength was determined. The dynamics parameters ( , , ) have been computed for all TL peaks on the glow curve.

It creates the low-dimensional embedding by approximately preserving the pairwise distances between the input points. However, current state-of-the-art approaches only scale to a few thousand data points.

The results obtained revealed MP concentrations ranging from 111 to 304 MPs/L in seawater and 2267 to 4600 MPs/kg in sediment. In organisms such as oysters, mussels, crabs, snails, and fish, MP levels ranged from 1.

Finding the superior mesenteric artery (SMA), inferior pancreatoduodenal artery (IPDA), first jejunal artery (J1A) has become a great challenge in laparoscopic PD (LPD). Meanwhile, exposing the midde colic artery (MCA) might be a feasible approach to determine SMA, IPDA, and J1A.

Activin A belongs to the transforming growth factor (TGF) family member, which exhibits a wide range of biological activities, including the regulation of cellular proliferation and differentiation and the promotion of neuronal survival. The isolation of AA from natural sources can only produce limited quantities of this bioactive protein. In this study, the whole gene of the precursor form of recombinant human activin A (rhAA) contains a signal peptide, and a pro-region and a mature region were cloned into an expression vector under the control of the rice α-amylase 3D (RAmy3D) promoter.

The effects of multi-dosed BoNT/A treatment are well documented on the peripheral nervous system (PNS), but much less is known on the central nervous system (CNS). Here, the mechanism of multi-dosed BoNT/A leading to CNS neurodegeneration is explored by using the 3D human neuron-glia model.

The majority of bacterial genomes sequenced to date have been sequenced with Illumina sequencing technology, owing to its high-throughput, excellent sequence accuracy, and low cost. However, because of the short-read nature of the technology, these assemblies are fragmented into large numbers of contigs, hindering the obtaining of full information of the genome.
