Background: Pseudoxanthoma elasticum-like papillary dermal elastolysis (PXE-PDE) is a rare disease clinically resembling pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE). Herein we report a typical case.
Patients And Methods: A 77-year-old woman consulted for an acquired papular eruption present for 4 years.
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) represent a heterogeneous group of malignant lymphoid tumors, which have distinct histological and/or biological characteristics with preferential nodal involvement. However, none of the previous studies have assessed the prevalence of common NHL and HL subtypes at each nodal site of involvement. The aim of our study was to determine the prevalence of HL and NHL subtypes depending on their nodal sites of involvement.

Patients with primary ciliary dyskinesia have very low concentration of nasal nitric oxide, which may contribute to the chronic upper airway diseases encountered by these patients. The mechanisms underlying this drop of nasal nitric oxide in primary ciliary dyskinesia are still unknown.

Human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8), a γ-herpesvirus homologous with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), was suggested to act as a "second hit" in the development of PAH in susceptible patients. Although there is indirect evidence from in vitro and animal studies in favor of a link between γ-herpesviruses and the pathophysiology of PAH, results remain controversial.

Two cases of MCL are reported here, both with a previous diagnosis of lymphoid hyperplasia. Morphologically, germinal centres are hyperplasic with a normal or discretely enlarged mantle zone, where foci of irregularly shaped small lymphocytes are seen.

By investigating hyperplastic lymph nodes from AIDS patients with multicentric Castleman's disease, we demonstrate, for the first time, by dual colour immunohistochemistry, that KSHV is frequently detectable in germinal centre macrophages. These macrophages, which display a latency programme and frequently contain apoptotic bodies, may represent a non-negligible reservoir for the virus in lymphoid organs.

The distinction between immature (lymphoblastic lymphoma/acute lymphoblastic leukaemia) and mature lymphoma is sometimes difficult. In this study, we evaluated anti-TdT antibody in the diagnosis and classification of these proliferations.

Thus, viral genomes (DNA) and/or RNA transcripts and/or proteins of human papillomaviruses (HPV) 16, 18, 31, 33, 51, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8), human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and simian virus 40 (SV40) were investigated on tissue sections (prepared in tissue microarrays) with different techniques of immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridisation. None of the cases displayed a single positive tumour cell for all the viruses tested whatever the technique applied.

Objectives: To determine the histological evolution of recurrent BCCs.
Methods: In a 14-year retrospective study analysing histological sections of recurrent BCCs, 390 specimens from 191 patients were blindly classified by three physicians into aggressive and nonaggressive types according to Sexton's classification.
The aim of this animal study was to test the hypothesis that low and high doses of 17beta-estradiol (E2) may differentially influence airway responsiveness. Ovariectomized female rats received either placebo or E2 (10 or 100 microg/kg per day) for 21 days. The concentration of inhaled acetylcholine (ACh) required to double pulmonary resistance (EC200 RL) was calculated as the in vivo index of airway responsiveness.

Histologically, the tumor was an undifferentiated carcinoma with osteoclast-like giant cells of the pancreas. This very rare neoplasm resembles giant cell tumor of bone.

The analysis of PNL2 immunostaining on a broad range of normal or malignant human tissues and on various melanocytic lesions revealed its high specificity. PNL2 gave a strong cytoplasmic staining of skin and oral mucosae melanocytes, and staining of granulocytes when used at high concentration.

The existence of four isoforms of PAD (types I, II, III and IV) encoded by four different genes, which are distinct in their substrate specificities and tissue-specific expression, was reported in rodents. In the present study, starting from epidermis polyadenylated RNA, we cloned by reverse transcriptase-PCR a full-length cDNA encoding human PAD type I.

Because the sensitivity of the PCR methodology was found to be tissue dependent, in the study of the presence of clonal cell population in tissues containing a small number of polyclonal lymphocytes, such as skin and gastrointestinal biopsy specimens, we used the multiple-PCR run approach. In this latter methodology, we repeat the PCR reaction from the same sample at least three times to confirm the reproducibility of the results.
