To investigate the use of short-term postoperative endotamponade with perfluorocarbon liquids (PFCLs) for the treatment of giant retinal tear-associated rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD). This retrospective study evaluated patients who had 2-stage surgery, which entailed pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) completed in 2 consecutive surgeries spaced 5 days apart, during which a short-term tamponade with PFCL was used (Group 1), and patients who had conventional single-stage PPV with long-term silicone oil (SO) tamponade (Group 2). Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 54 patients with ODP maculopathy who were followed up for 12 months post-operatively.
Motivated by the exceptional optoelectronic properties of 2D Janus layers (JLs), we explore the properties of group Va antimony-based JLs SbXY (X = Se/Te and Y = I/Br). Using Bader charges, the electric dipole moment in the out-of-plane direction of all the JLs is studied and the largest dipole moment is found to be in the SbSeI JL. Our results on the formation energy, phonon spectra, elastic constants, and molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulation provide insights into the energetic, vibrational, mechanical, and thermal stability of JLs.

Methods: A retrospective observational case series of two eyes of two patients who underwent 25 G pars plana vitrectomy with peeling of internal limiting membrane and SF6 tamponade and were assessed with respect to best corrected visual acuity, fundus photographs and spectral domain optical coherence tomography.
Results: Type 1 closure of macular hole was achieved along with resolution of retinal detachment in both patients.
Introduction: Cataract surgery constitutes one of the highest volume surgeries performed worldwide approximating 10 million annually, varying from 100 to 6000 per million population. Implantation of scleral fixated intra-ocular lens (SFIOL) is getting popular in managing difficult situations like aphakia, subluxated lens, and dislocated cataracts.
Objective: This retrospective series evaluated our experience with foldable 3-piece acrylic SFIOL implantation for various challenging surgical scenarios in a tertiary care ophthalmic institute in the southern part of India.
Purpose: Cataract surgery in microphthalmic eyes is challenging due to anatomical restraints, hard bulky nucleus. This series aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of couching of intraocular lens in irido-fundal coloboma with microphthalmos.
Setting: Tertiary care centre in South India.
Background: Toxic anterior segment syndrome (TASS) is an uncommon complication of vitreoretinal surgery and is characterized by severe anterior chamber reaction, hypopyon, and limbus-to-limbus corneal edema.
Methods: Twenty-nine vitreoretinal surgeries were performed, of which 14 developed TASS in the early postoperative period. The operative records were reviewed retrospectively.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the demographic and clinical patterns of optic neuritis (ON) in patients presenting to a tertiary health-care institute and to study the incidence of multiple sclerosis (MS), magnetic resonance imaging features in varied ON, treatment outcome, and prognosis.

Methods: It was a case control study with 80 eyes each in the diabetic group and the control group. Intraoperative mydriasis, effective phaco time (EPT) and postoperative inflammation were measured.
Six different structural models for atomic clusters in bcc Fe are investigated by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Results for clusters with identical numbers of constituents (O, Y, Ti, and vacancies) are compared.
