Gamma oscillations (30-120 Hz) in the brain are not periodic cycles, but they typically appear in short-time windows, often called oscillatory bursts. While the origin of this bursting phenomenon is still unclear, some recent studies hypothesize its origin in the external or endogenous noise of neural networks. We demonstrate that an exact neural mass model of excitatory and inhibitory quadratic-integrate and fire-spiking neurons theoretically predicts the emergence of a different regime of intrinsic bursting gamma (IBG) oscillations without any noise source, a phenomenon due to collective chaos.

Aim: The CAMAREC study aims to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in predicting significant coronary artery disease in patients with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction, using coronary angiography as the gold standard for comparison.
Methods: CAMAREC is a prospective cohort study of 406 patients in 10 centres with newly diagnosed, unexplained left ventricular ejection fraction ≤ 45%.

Purpose: In this study of oestrogen receptor (ER) Low Positive breast cancers (BC) in three large cohorts of BC patients, we assess associations between levels of ER expression and tumour characteristics and prognosis.
Methods: Cases were stratified into patients unlikely to have received adjuvant therapy according to treatment guidelines at time of diagnosis (before 1995), and those who could have received adjuvant therapy (diagnosed in 1995 or later). ER status was divided into < 1%; ≥ 1 < 10%; ≥ 10%.
Introduction: P21-activated kinase 1 (PAK1) is known to be overexpressed in several human tumour types, including breast cancer (BC). It is located on chromosome 11 (11q13.5-q14.

Methods: Among 83,298 Norwegian women followed for breast cancer occurrence 1961-2012, 2995 incident breast cancers were diagnosed.
Background: Coronary angiography is the gold standard for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease. This intervention is nevertheless a source of anxiety for the patient both by its discomfort and by the consequences linked to the discovery of potential diseases.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of hypnosis in reducing anxiety in patients undergoing coronary angiography.
Over the past decades, histopathological cancer diagnostics has become more complex, and the increasing number of biopsies is a challenge for most pathology laboratories. Thus, development of automatic methods for evaluation of histopathological cancer sections would be of value. In this study, we used 624 whole slide images (WSIs) of breast cancer from a Norwegian cohort.

To reduce inter-laboratory differences, it has been proposed that cut-off levels for Ki-67 should be determined based on the in-house median of 500 counted tumour cell nuclei. Digital image analysis (DIA) has been proposed as a means to standardize assessment of Ki-67 staining in tumour tissue.

CCND1 is located on 11q13. Increased CCND1 copy number (CN) in breast cancer (BC) is associated with high histopathological grade, high proliferation, and Luminal B subtype. In this study of CCND1 in primary BCs and corresponding axillary lymph node metastases (LNM),we examine associations between CCND1 CN in primary BCs and proliferation status, molecular subtype, and prognosis.

The aim of this study was to evaluate enamel pretreatment both in vitro and clinically using agents with different RDA values before brackets' bonding, to assess if RDA can affect the Shear Bond Strength (SBS), Adhesive Remnant Index (ARI) and clinical failure rate of orthodontic brackets. For the in vitro study, 220 bovine teeth were pretreated with agents with different RDA values.

Methods: A cohort of 22,931 women born 1920-1966 were followed up for breast cancer occurrence from 1961 to 2012, and 870 were diagnosed during follow-up. Archival diagnostic material from 537 patients was available to determine molecular breast cancer subtype, specified as Luminal A, Luminal B (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-), Luminal B (HER2+), HER2 type, and Triple negative (TN) breast cancer.
Aims: is located on 8p11.23 and regulates cell proliferation and survival. Increased copy number of is found in several cancers including cancer of the breast.

DTX3 has been identified as a driver of proliferation in luminal breast cancer. In this study, we describe DTX3 copy number in breast cancer primary tumours and corresponding axillary lymph node metastases, and studied associations with molecular subtype, proliferation and prognosis.

ZNF703 has been identified as the driver gene of proliferation in the A1 amplicon situated in 8p12. In this study, the aims were to investigate associations between ZNF703 copy number alterations and molecular subtypes, proliferation and prognosis, and using immunohistochemistry, examine associations between ZNF703 copy number and ZNF703 protein expression.

We report the case of a 89 year-old woman admitted to the emergency department for epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting. Because of a circulatory failure with electrocardiographic ST changes and a slight elevation of ultra-sensible troponin, a coronary angiography was performed and found normal coronary arteries. Thoraco-abdominal CT scan revealed a large hiatal hernia causing a cardiac compression, and a left intraventricular obstruction showed by Doppler echocardiography.

It features a 10µJ, 200 ns, 20 kHz fiber pulsed laser emitter at 1645 nm, and it has been designed to monitor industrial methane leaks and fugitive emissions in the environment. The system performance has been assessed for range-resolved (RR) and integrated-path (IP) methane measurements in natural background conditions (i.

The aims of the present study were to describe MRPS23 copy number change in breast cancer, and to assess associations between MRPS23 copy number change and molecular subtype, proliferation and prognosis, and between MRPS23 gene expression and molecular subtype and prognosis.
Methods: Using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), we examined MRPS23 and centromere 17 copy number in 590 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded primary tumours and 144 corresponding lymph node metastases from a cohort of Norwegian breast cancer patients.
Renal hemosiderosis is a rare cause of acute kidney injury, but it can also lead to chronic kidney failure. We report here the case of a 73-year-old patient with acute kidney caused by a massive hemosiderosis following the proximal disinsertion of a prosthesis of the ascendant aorta with chronic aortic dissection. The kidney biopsy revealed the diagnosis, showing massive iron deposits inside the proximal tubules, especially with Perls staining and also diffuse hematic casts in the lumen of the tubules.

Purpose: The purpose of this cross-sectional comparative pilot study was to evaluate cognitive effort, indexed by pupillary response (PR), for breast cancer survivors (BCS) with complaints of cognitive dysfunction following chemotherapy.
Study Aims: Compare the cognitive effort employed by BCS to healthy controls (HC) during neuropsychological tests (NPT) for memory, sustained attention, verbal fluency, visuospatial ability, processing speed and executive function; and Investigate the relationship between PR-indexed cognitive effort and participants' self-report of cognitive function.
Methods: Self-report of cognitive function was collected from 23 BCS and 23 HC.

While early detection and improved treatment have led to reduced mortality, even for those with metastatic cancer, some patients still respond poorly to treatment. Understanding the mechanisms of metastasis is important to improve prognostication, to stratify patients for treatment, and to identify new targets for therapy.
