Importance: Metformin and glyburide monotherapy are used as alternatives to insulin in managing gestational diabetes. Whether a sequential strategy of these oral agents results in noninferior perinatal outcomes compared with insulin alone is unknown.
Objective: To test whether a treatment strategy of oral glucose-lowering agents is noninferior to insulin for prevention of large-for-gestational-age infants.
The limited existing literature studying the effects of childhood residential mobility suggests that it influences a range of life outcomes, at least in young adulthood. Little is known about how the frequency of moving in childhood is related to later-life demographic behaviour in Europe. Drawing on residential and partnership histories from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), this paper examines whether moving in childhood relates to union dissolution in adulthood.

A 39-year-old woman with severe periodontal inflammation was referred to a periodontist in 2013. Intraoral examination and additional diagnostics revealed generalized periodontitis, stage IV, grade C, with the presence of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans in the subgingival plaque, according to current classification. Treatment and treatment outcomes are described, followed by consideration of the treatment decisions in light of minimally invasive care and current treatment guidelines.

Outpatients with diabetes have more complications than patients in general practice; mortality patterns have only been studied in the total diabetes population. This study aims to assess mortality, causes, and predictors in outpatients with diabetes.

However, the longitudinal effects of residential mobility are understudied and may be context-dependent. This study investigates the longitudinal associations between adolescent residential mobility and internalizing and externalizing problems.

Methods: We included all confirmed mpox cases identified by the national mpox surveillance system in France between May and July 2022. Cases tested positive for monkeypox virus or orthopoxviruses by PCR.
Aim: To evaluate the association between physical activity (PA) and sports participation with insulin resistance and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in people with type 1 diabetes (T1D).
Methods: People with T1D from a secondary and tertiary care centre were included. Questionnaire-derived PA was expressed in metabolic equivalent of task hours per week (METh/week).
Aims/hypothesis: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is increasingly used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, but the effects on glycaemic control are unclear. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to provide a comprehensive overview of the effect of CGM on glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: We performed a systematic review using Embase, MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus and ClinicalTrials.

Background: Diabetes mellitus forms a slow pandemic. Cardiovascular risk and quality of diabetes care are strongly associated. Quality indicators improve diabetes management and reduce mortality and costs.

Our models captured major drivers of uncertainty including the complex relationship between climate and DENV transmission, temperature trends, and underreporting. Early assessment correctly concluded that persistence of DENV transmission during the austral winter 2018 was likely and that the second epidemic wave would be larger than the first one.

Aims: The COVID-19 pandemic impacted diabetes care by reducing diabetes outpatient visits and diabetes-related screening due to allocation of healthcare resources. Yet the impact of COVID-19 on diabetes outpatients has not been extensively evaluated. This study aimed to assess the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on diagnostics and intermediate outcomes of outpatient diabetes care pre- and during COVID.

Materials And Methods: In a post-hoc analysis of the GlucoMOMS randomized controlled trial, we investigated the association between the metrics of an offline, intermittent CGM, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) and perinatal outcomes per trimester in different types of diabetes (type 1, 2 or insulin-treated gestational diabetes mellitus [GDM]). Data were analysed using multivariable binary logistic regression.
Background: Data on effects of intra-gastric balloon (IGB) on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) are scarce, in part with contradictory results, and mainly obtained in tertiary care patients with diabetes and other comorbidities. We here explore effects of IGB in patients with MASLD referred to a first-line obesity clinic.
Methods: In this prospective cohort study, patients with at least significant fibrosis (≥ F2) and/or severe steatosis (S3) according to screening transient elastography (FibroScan®) were offered a second FibroScan® after 6 months lifestyle modification with or without IGB (based on patient preference).
Introduction: The management of type 1 diabetes (T1DM) has undergone significant advancements with the availability of novel technologies, notably continuous and flash glucose monitoring (CGM and FGM, respectively) and hybrid closed loop (HCL) therapy. The dual hormone fully closed loop (DHFCL) approach with insulin and glucagon infusion has shown promising effects in small studies on glycaemic regulation and quality of life in T1DM.
Methods And Analysis: The Dual Hormone Fully Closed Loop for Type 1 Diabetes (DARE) study is a non-commercial 12-month open-label, two-arm randomised parallel-group trial.
Background: With improvements in care for people with Cystic Fibrosis (pwCF), total survival after Lung Transplantation (LTx) will be longer. Therefore, this population's up-to-date analysis of late-onset post-transplant metabolic and vascular complications will be more relevant in current clinical practice.
Methods: We studied 100 pwCF who underwent an LTx between 2001 and 2020 at the University Medical Centre Utrecht, the Netherlands.
BackgroundLyme borreliosis (LB) is the most common tick-borne disease (TBD) in France. Forestry workers are at high risk of TBD because of frequent exposure to tick bites.AimWe aimed to estimate the seroprevalence of sensu lato and tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) antibodies among forestry workers in northern France.

Methods: In participants from the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial/Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (DCCT/EDIC) study, individual treatment effect of INT (≥3 daily insulin injections/insulin pump therapy) versus conventional therapy (once/twice daily insulin) on the risk of MACE was estimated using a penalized Cox regression model including treatment-by-covariate interaction terms.
Results: In 1441 participants, 120 first MACE events were observed and 1279 individuals (89%) were predicted to benefit from INT with regard to MACE risk reduction.
Chikungunya is an arboviral disease causing arthralgia which may develop into a debilitating chronic arthritis. In Mayotte, a French overseas department in the Indian Ocean, a chikungunya outbreak was reported in 2006, affecting a third of the population. We aimed at assessing the chikungunya seroprevalence in this population, after over a decade from that epidemic.

Here, we concurrently recorded electroencephalography (EEG) data from nine groups, each of which contained four students and a teacher.
