This study evaluated the changes in the composition of oral-gut microbiota in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) caused by methotrexate (MTX) and non-surgical periodontal treatment (NSPT). Assessments were performed at baseline (T0), 6 months after MTX treatment (T1), and 45 days after NSPT (T2). The composition of the oral and gut microbiota was assessed by amplifying the V4 region of the 16S gene from subgingival plaques and stools.

Objectives: Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) play a role in the pathogenesis of periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, it remains poorly understood whether NETs participate in the cross-talk between periodontitis and RA. Herein, we investigated the production of NETs in individuals with periodontitis and RA and its association with clinical parameters.

Mouthguard Biomechanics for Protecting Dental Implants from Impact: Experimental and Finite Element Impact Analysis.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate mouthguard shock absorption ability, strain, and stress generation during impact on dental implants placed in the anterior maxilla. The mouthguard material was also characterized.

Effects of titanium surfaces on the developmental profile of monocytes/macrophages.

Due to the critical role of monocytes/macrophages (Mϕ) in bone healing, this study evaluated the effects of bio-anodized, acid-etched, and machined titanium surfaces (Ti) on Mϕ behavior. Cells were separated from whole human blood from 10 patients, plated on Ti or polystyrene (control) surfaces, and cultured for 72 h. Esthetic rehabilitation with laminated ceramic veneers reinforced by lithium disilicate.

Because of their predictable results and conservation of tooth structure, ceramic veneers are indicated for the esthetic treatment of anterior teeth with anomalous positions or appearance. The objective of this case report is to highlight the steps in dental rehabilitation using ceramic veneers reinforced by lithium disilicate.
