Drugs have been consumed since ancient times, and their taboo has generated segregation and hindered the proper confrontation of harmful use. This study investigated the real and symbolic values of drug use for ill-housed people beyond pathologization, seeking to understand factors that hinder giving them up, even with intense losses and suffering. It also aimed to understand its implications for health care.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put pressure on public health systems worldwide since 2020. This article aims to discuss working conditions in Primary Health Care (PHC) in Brazil, while dialoguing with primary health care (CSP, Cuidados de Saúde Primários) in Portugal in the pandemic scenario. For that purpose, data from the study "Working conditions of health professionals in the context of COVID-19 in Brazil" are presented, for further discussion with the report produced by "Family Health Units - National Association (USF-AN, Unidades de Saúde Familiar - Associação Nacional)" on the CSP in Portugal.

Objective: To analyze the way of life of the unhoused people to enhance health care in the pandemic.

Methods: A qualitative, interdisciplinary research, with participant observation and 24 interviews with the unhoused people. Empirical categories and bibliographic search on this population and COVID-19 guided simple actions aimed at care.
