Importance: Coaching is an effective intervention strategy in occupational therapy but there lacks consensus in the literature about terms, definitions, and approaches used which can be barriers to the clinical use of this method.

Objective: The purpose of this review is to understand how coaching adults is used as an intervention to support children with disabilities.

Methods: Guidelines from foundational scoping review articles and PRISMA-ScR were followed.

High Rates of Fabricated and Inaccurate References in ChatGPT-Generated Medical Content.

Background The availability of large language models such as Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT, OpenAI) has enabled individuals from diverse backgrounds to access medical information. However, concerns exist about the accuracy of ChatGPT responses and the references used to generate medical content. Methods This observational study investigated the authenticity and accuracy of references in medical articles generated by ChatGPT.

Karyotype Anomalies in Patients with Disorders of Sexual Development.

Objectives Disorders of sex development(DSD)can result in discordance between the chromosomal and anatomicand/orphenotypic sex of a patient. Reporting patients with uncommon karyotypes associated with DSD is important for clinical comparison of developmental outcomes, and management. Methods We describe three female patients with karyotypes resulting in DSD and the use of a combination of chromosomes and FISH techniques to identify potential causes.

The aim of this perspective is to describe the theory and practical steps of using principles of social network analysis to help measure the social inclusion of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Social inclusion for those with disabilities has become an important area of focus of rehabilitative professionals in the past decade. Social inclusion is comprised of the domains participation and social interaction.

In this study, we investigated developmental γ-globin silencing in the Townes humanized knock-in mouse model, which harbors a construct containing the human γ-, β-, and β-globin genes, and examined the utility of this model in evaluation of pharmacologic induction of fetal hemoglobin (HbF). We studied mouse pups on the day of delivery (P0) to 28 days after birth (P28).

Endometrial polyps (EMPs) are common exophytic masses associated with abnormal uterine bleeding and infertility. Unlike normal endometrium, which is cyclically shed, EMPs persist over ovulatory cycles and after the menopause. Despite their usual classification as benign entities, EMPs are paradoxically associated with endometrial carcinomas of diverse histologic subtypes, which frequently arise within EMPs.

Effects of dust deposition from diamond mining on subarctic plant communities and barren-ground caribou forage.

Dust produced from mining has the potential to reduce plant cover, alter plant communities, and increase metal concentrations in vegetation-changes that may affect the amount, type, and quality of forage for barren-ground caribou (Rangifer tarandus groenlandicus). We quantified dust deposition from Diavik Diamond Mine (Northwest Territories, Canada) and investigated the changes on forage quality, type, and quantity for caribou. From 2002 to 2016, dust deposition was measured, and vegetation cover and richness were assessed in permanent plots established adjacent to the mine and in reference areas 1-6 km from the mine.

Antimicrobial and resource utilization with T2 magnetic resonance for rapid diagnosis of bloodstream infections: systematic review with meta-analysis of controlled studies.

To compare antimicrobial and resource utilization with T2 Magnetic Resonance (T2MR) versus blood culture (BC) in patients with suspected bloodstream infection. We systematically searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and CENTRAL for randomized trials or observational controlled studies of patients with suspected bloodstream infection receiving a diagnosis with T2MR or BC. Using an inverse variance meta-analysis model, we reported mortality using the risk ratio (RR) and the remaining outcomes as the mean difference (MD).

Clinical Utility of Presacral Neurectomy as an Adjunct to Conservative Endometriosis Surgery: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Controlled Studies.

The objective of this review was to compare the efficacy and safety of conservative surgery with or without adjunctive presacral neurectomy (PN) for chronic endometriosis-related pelvic pain. In a systematic review with meta-analysis, randomized or nonrandomized controlled studies of conservative endometriosis surgery with or without adjunctive PN were included. Main outcomes were treatment failure (the proportion of women in which surgery failed to adequately resolve midline pain) and the frequency of operative and postoperative complications.

CD33 expression on natural killer cells is a potential confounder for residual disease detection in acute myeloid leukemia by flow cytometry.

Detection of minimal/measurable residual disease (MRD) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is important for guiding patient-specific clinical management. Natural killer (NK) cells can express various markers not typically associated with NK lineage, potentially confounding the detection of MRD by flow cytometry. We have observed CD33 expression on NK cells when evaluating for AML MRD in routine clinical practice in multiple patient samples.

Soils are crucial in regulating ecosystem processes, such as nutrient cycling, and supporting plant growth. To a large extent, these functions are carried out by highly diverse and dynamic soil microbiomes that are in turn governed by numerous environmental factors including weathering profile and vegetation. In this study, we investigate geophysical and vegetation effects on the microbial communities of iron-rich lateritic soils in the highly weathered landscapes of Western Australia (WA).

Cuba's marine and coastal ecosystems are highly biodiverse and support fisheries vital to food security and the national economy. A novel flow cytometric assay for detection of residual disease in patients with B-lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma post anti-CD19 therapy.

Background: Residual disease detection following therapy is an important prognostic variable in B-lymphoblastic leukemia (B-LL). Most flow cytometric strategies for detecting B cell malignancy utilize CD19 to identify B cells. With growing use of anti-CD19 targeted therapies, alternative strategies are needed for residual disease detection.

Background: Systemic mastocytosis (SM) is a diagnosis made using clinical, laboratory, and histologic parameters. Aberrant CD2 and/or CD25 expression on mast cells provides one minor criterion for a diagnosis of SM. To validate a tube (CD45/CD117/CD2/CD25) for mast cell evaluation, flow cytometry (FC) on residual material from marrow aspirates samples submitted to the hematopathology laboratory was performed.

Background: Understanding the fine line between motivation and coercion in nursing education may offer insight into satisfaction and autonomy in young nursing students, leading to increased retention, effectiveness, and professionalism in the workplace.

Purpose: To compare and analyze the concepts of motivation and coercion with application to nursing academia.

Methods: Using the Walker and Avant method for concept analyses, definitions and defining attributes of motivation and coercion were identified, along with antecedents, consequences, and model cases for each concept.

Aortic stenosis (AS) is the most common valvular heart disorder in older adults. Patients with severe AS are generally treated nonsurgically if asymptomatic and referred to aortic valve replacement when symptoms develop. However, patients with severe asymptomatic AS with left ventricular dysfunction may benefit from early aortic valve replacement.

Aldo-keto reductase family 1 member C3 (AKR1C3) is expressed in adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma but not small cell carcinoma.

Human aldo-keto reductase family 1 member C3 (AKR1C3) was initially identified as a critical enzyme in reducing 5α-dihydrotestosterone (5α-DHT) to 5α-androstane-3α,17β-diol (3α-diol) and oxidizing 3α-diol to androsterone. Based on these enzymatic activities, AKR1C3 was originally named type 2 3α-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (HSD)/type 5 17β-HSD. Additionally, AKR1C3 was demonstrated to be capable of metabolizing other steroids including estrogen and progesterone.

Safety and effectiveness of microvascular decompression for treatment of hemifacial spasm: a systematic review.

Introduction: Hemifacial spasm (HFS) is caused by vascular compression of the VII cranial nerve at its root exit zone from the brainstem. Microvascular decompression (MVD) is the only treatment option that offers the prospect of a definitive cure for HFS. We conducted the first systematic review on the safety and effectiveness of MVD for the treatment of HFS.
