Background: Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is a genetic arrhythmic syndrome caused by mutations in the calcium (Ca) release channel ryanodine receptor (RyR2) and its accessory proteins. These mutations make the channel leaky, resulting in Ca-dependent arrhythmias. Besides arrhythmias, CPVT hearts typically lack structural cardiac remodeling, a characteristic often observed in other cardiac conditions (heart failure, prediabetes) also marked by RyR2 leak.

Background: Non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) refer to the loss of dental hard tissue in the cervical region due to physical and/or chemical factors, often associated with the disappearance of the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ), posing challenges in both diagnosis and treatment of gingival recessions (GR). This case study introduces two protocols for multidisciplinary CEJ reconstruction prior to the root coverage therapy (RCT).
Methods: Two patients with GR and NCCLs were treated using two CEJ reconstruction techniques: both, analogically and digitally guided.
Background: Misinformation in Spanish on social media platforms has contributed to COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among Latino parents. Brigada Digital de Salud was established to disseminate credible, science-based information about COVID-19 in Spanish on social media.
Objective: This study aims to assess participants' reactions to and engagement with Brigada Digital content that sought to increase COVID-19 vaccine uptake among US Latino parents and their children.
Purpose: Cosmocercids are common nematodes that parasitize the digestive tract and lungs of amphibians and reptiles around the world. They are commonly found in leptodactylid and bufonid anurans in South America, primarily in Brazil and Argentina. This paper describes a new species of genus Cosmocerca based on specimens collected in a microhylid from the Dry Chaco ecoregion.

We aimed to study cognitive abilities (attention, executive functions, memory, language) and psychological and emotional factors in a group of participants of the population with persistent COVID-19 and asymptomatic or non-COVID-19-infected patients; A total of 86 participants aged 18 to 66 years (X = 46.76) took part in the study, with 57 individuals (66.

Previous reports on the possible association between race/ethnicity, COVID-19, and mortality have shown that Hispanic/Latino patients with type 2 diabetes who are socioeconomically disadvantaged are disproportionately affected by this novel virus. The aim of this study was to explore stressors associated with changes in diabetes self-management behaviors.

Understanding how missense mutations alter histone function is challenging in mammals as mutations occur in a single histone gene. For example, described oncohistone mutations predominantly occur in the histone H3.

On the other hand, sonic crystals were disregarded as scattering media for the TR process because of their periodic structure and previous results showing poor spatial focusing when compared to a disordered medium. In this paper, an experimental realization of a tunable sonic crystal, which can achieve single-channel TR focusing amplitudes in the audible range comparable to those obtained in a disordered scattering medium, is presented.

This neurological condition affects behavior, learning, and social adjustment and requires specific symptomatic criteria to be fulfilled for diagnosis. ADHD may be treated with a combination of psychological or psychiatric therapeutic interventions, but it often goes unattended.

We assessed whether soil disturbance by agricultural activity influences the growth, development, and survival of individuals in the larval, metamorphic, and postmetamorphic stages of amphibians. Tadpoles of Pithecopus azureus (Cope, 1862) were reared in microcosms assembled with soil from two sites, a pristine site and a rice field. For 5 weeks, we recorded tadpole growth and development as well as physicochemical variable of the water: temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and pH.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAplectana hylambatis is a nematode with a wide geographic distribution and low host specificity. In spite of numerous reports, until this moment, the morphological variations between different hosts and localities have not been studied. We studied 401 specimens collected from five host species from seven localities in Argentina, and examined the following morphological characters: mamelon-like cuticular protuberances anterior to the vulva, structure of the gubernaculum and the spicules, number and arrangement of caudal papillae, and the measurements of twelve characters in females and eleven characters in males.

Some patients show wider electrical dynamic ranges than others and most of them have good speech perception performance. The knowledge of the average psycho-acoustical dynamic range in adults will help the audiologist program children who do not give reliable responses.
