Imaging in experimental models of diabetes.

Translational medicine, experimental medicine and experimental animal models, in particular mice and rats, represent a multidisciplinary field that has made it possible to achieve, in the last decades, important scientific progress. In this review, we have summarized the most frequently used imaging animal models, such as ultrasound (US), micro-CT, MRI and the optical imaging methods, and their main implications in diagnostic and therapeutic fields, with a particular focus on diabetes mellitus, a multifactorial disease extremely widespread among the general population.

Visceral Artery Aneurysms Embolization and Other Interventional Options: State of the Art and New Perspectives.

Visceral artery aneurysms (VAAs) are rare, usually asymptomatic and incidentally discovered during a routine radiological examination. Shared guidelines suggest their treatment in the following conditions: VAAs with diameter larger than 2 cm, or 3 times exceeding the target artery; VAAs with a progressive growth of at least 0.5 cm per year; symptomatic or ruptured VAAs.

CT texture analysis as predictive factor in metastatic lung adenocarcinoma treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).

Purpose: To assess the predictive and prognostic value of pre-treatment CT texture features in lung adenocarcinoma treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI).

Materials And Methods: Texture analysis was performed using commercially available software (TexRAD Ltd, Cambridge, UK) on pre-treatment contrast-enhanced CT studies from 50 patients with metastatic lung adenocarcinoma treated by TKI. Texture features were quantified on a 5-mm-thick central slice of the primary tumor and were correlated with progression-free and overall survival (PFS and OS) using an internally cross-validated machine learning approach then validated on a bootstrapped sample.
