Background And Objectives: The risk of recurrent ischemic stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, and mortality in people with atrial fibrillation detected after stroke (AFDAS) is still unclear compared with people with known atrial fibrillation (KAF). We systematically reviewed the literature to provide updated estimates for the risk of recurrent stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, and mortality in AFDAS compared with KAF.
Methods: Our protocol was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42024583064).
Background: Data on cardioembolic prevention with direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients with previous gastric surgery are lacking. We report inter- and intra-individual differences in DOAC concentration in people with gastric surgery, to identify potential treatment options.
Methods: Patients with previous gastric surgery receiving DOAC for AF as stroke secondary prevention, and undergoing peak-trough DOAC plasmatic testing were selected from the regional EDDIE-AF registry.
Objective: The optimal management and procedural strategy for tandem occlusion (TO) in acute ischemic stroke are still unclear, as is the long-term outcome of these patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate predictors of good functional outcome in patients with TO through the analysis of demographics, clinical, and radiological data with a 1-year follow-up.
Methods: We collected data on 100 patients with TO who underwent revascularization treatments in our comprehensive stroke center.
