Article Synopsis
  • Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) has shown significant improvement in heart failure patients, who often experience endothelial dysfunction (ED) characterized by impaired flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD).
  • In a study of 57 heart failure patients undergoing CRT with defibrillators, a notable 64.9% were found to have ED, but after 12 months of CRT treatment, FMD increased significantly from 4.1% to 8.8%.
  • Although ED does not independently predict CRT response, it can serve as a useful marker for assessing CRT effectiveness, particularly in patients who struggle with the 6-minute walk test.
