Background: Challenges in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) arthroscopy training include the cost of operating room time, surgical risks, and the accessibility of cadavers and high-fidelity simulators. A low-fidelity simulator (LFS) was developed for initial TMJ arthroscopy training.

Can what we know change what we see? A line of research stretching back nearly a century suggests that knowing an object's canonical color can alter its visual appearance, such that objectively gray bananas appear to be tinged with yellow, and objectively orange hearts appear redder than they really are. Such "memory color" effects have constituted the strongest and most complete evidence that basic sensory processing can be penetrated by higher-level knowledge, and have contributed to theories of object perception in psychology, neuroscience, and philosophy. Are such phenomena truly perceptual? Or could they instead reflect shifts in judgments and responses without altering online color perception? Here, we take a novel approach to this question by exploiting a "logic" that is inherent in visual processing but that higher-level cognition often cannot follow.

Simplicity and complexity preferences in causal explanation: An opponent heuristic account.

People often prefer simple to complex explanations because they generally have higher prior probability. However, simpler explanations are not always normatively superior because they often do not account for the data as well as complex explanations. How do people negotiate this trade-off between prior probability (favoring simple explanations) and goodness-of-fit (favoring complex explanations)? Here, we argue that people use opponent heuristics to simplify this problem-that people use simplicity as a cue to prior probability but complexity as a cue to goodness-of-fit.

Background: There are no well-established guidelines for safe driving after injury or surgical treatment. The purpose of this study was to assess the aptitude to regain driving skills and brake reaction abilities after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery.

Methods: This study compared the driving abilities and skills at four to six weeks after surgery of 31 patients who underwent ACL reconstruction with hamstring autograft with 31 healthy volunteers.

In 5 studies, we developed and provided support for the validity of the Tendency for Effervescent Assembly Measure (TEAM). Utilizing data from student and community samples, we conducted exploratory factor analyses to guide item selection for the scale (Study 1), evaluated the structure of the scale in an independent sample (Study 2), examined the convergent, discriminant, and incremental validity of the scale (Study 3), and assessed measurement invariance of the scale across different demographic groups (Study 4).

Hepatic preneoplasia induction in male Wistar rats: histological studies up to five months post treatment.

Background: Liver preneoplasia development in rats can be mimicked by an initiation-promotion model that induces the appearance of altered hepatocyte foc (FAH).

Aims: We compare two initiation-promotion models to evaluate the presence of FAH or additional hepatic pathologies in which other organs were affected up to five month post treatment.

Material And Methods: FAH were induced in male adult Wistar rats with two doses of dietylnitrosamine (DEN, 150 mg/kg bw) followed by 4 doses per week (3 weeks) of 2-acetylaminofluorene (2-AAF, 20 mg/kg bw) or with one dose of DEN (200 mg/kg bw) followed by 2 doses per week (3 weeks) of 2-AAF.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to compare effectiveness and safety profile of rivaroxaban with bemiparin in 3-week extended prophylaxis after knee arthroscopy.

Methods: Four hundred and sixty-seven patients were included in this review divided in two groups. One followed prophylaxis with rivaroxaban and the other one with bemiparin.
