Pilates can be defined as exercises which are floor-based or use specialized equipment to provide resistance. The use of foam rollers (FR) have been purported to improve the recruitment of core muscles by creating an unstable surface, providing improvements to balance, posture and functional recovery in daily activities. However, there is a paucity of studies exploring the use of FR as an unstable surface.

In patients with Fontan circulation who underwent 4D-Flow CMR, streamlines distribution was evaluated, as well a 4D-flow CMR-derived energetics parameters as kinetic energy (KE) and energy loss (EL) normalized by volume. EL/KE index as a marker of flow efficiency was also calculated.

Over the intervening years, the actual implementation of such documents is very low. Through extensive analysis of the literature, this article explores the current status of the use of and attitudes toward advance directives in Spain and then proposes strategies for improvement in their implementation.

One ethical concern about using such strategies is that they may constitute coercive behaviour ("informal coercion") and negatively impact patient satisfaction and the quality of care. However, some influence strategies may affect patients' perceptions, so an umbrella definition of "informal coercion" may be unsatisfactory.

To be successful, the implementation of support should be informed by stakeholders' experiences of RI support. This study aims to explore experiences of RI support in Dutch, Spanish and Croatian universities.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to report a large, single-center experience using the ClotTriever thrombectomy system (Inari Medical, Irvine, CA) for the management of acute iliofemoral (IF) deep vein thrombosis (DVT). One limitation of all endovascular devices for the treatment of acute IF-DVT has been the inability to completely remove all acute thrombus and the need for adjunctive thrombolysis with its attendant risk of bleeding complications.
Methods: A single-center retrospective review of consecutive patients with acute IF-DVT treated with the ClotTriever thrombectomy system (Inari Medical) is reported.
Background: The majority of prevalence studies on deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in severe COVID-19 patients are retrospective with DVT assessment based on clinical suspicion. Our aim was to prospectively and systematically estimate the occurrence of DVT in critically-ill mechanically-ventilated patients, and to identify potential risk factors for DVT occurrence and mortality.
Methods: All patients with COVID-19 admitted to our 45 beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) between March 6, 2020, and April 18, 2020, requiring invasive ventilatory support were daily screened for DVT with lower extremities and jugular veins ultrasonography.
Several studies have shown how COrona VIrus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the consequent isolation and quarantine measures could affect physical and mental well-being. Therefore, the increased request for support and assistance represents a critical challenge for clinicians requiring a reorganization of care systems. In this regard, online counselling has been identified as a useful tool in providing psychological assistance and support.

Their behavior under increasing airway pressures and changing right ventricular afterload is incompletely understood. If the phenomena of SVV and PPV augmentation are manifestations of decreasing preload, they should be accompanied by decreasing transmural right atrial pressures.

Water was sampled in four different stations along wastewater treatments to better understand the behaviour of PMFs along different steps of the plant. Galaxolide (HHCB) and galaxolidone (HHCB-lactone) were found in concentrations at μg L level, 1 order of magnitude greater than tonalide (AHTN), whilst phantolide (AHDI) was never detected and celestolide (ADBI) was measured only at trace levels.

At the same time, the field of bioethics has been on the rise, a discipline that has spurred debate on the right of patients to exercise their autonomy. Despite all this, the implementation of ADs can be said to have failed in Spain, because its prevalence is very low, there is a great lack of knowledge about them and they have very little impact on clinical decisions.

A purposive sample of sixty healthcare professionals discussed ADs and reasons for their infrequent use. Three main themes were identified: perceptions about their meaning, appraisals of their use in clinical practice, and decision-making about them.

Background: Lower extremity lymphedema is frequently encountered in the vascular clinic. Established dogma purports that cancer is the most common cause of lower extremity lymphedema in Western countries, whereas chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is often overlooked as a potential cause. Moreover, lymphedema is typically ascribed to a single cause, yet multiple causes can coexist.

A proportion of these are at increased risk for fetal trisomy 13, 18, or triploidy, while others have no change from their prior risk. Women with an initial uninformative NIPT need to be counseled about any such change in their risk for fetal abnormality and also the probability that a redraw will be informative.

Results: In a deductive qualitative content analysis of focus group interviews, several examples of persuasion, interpersonal leverage, inducements, and threats were found. Persuasion was sometimes described as being more like a negotiation.
Background: Pompe disease is a lysosomal storage disorder caused by the deficiency of enzyme acid alpha-glucosidase () which results in accumulation of glycogen, particularly in the skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscles. The late-onset form with symptoms presenting in childhood through adulthood, is characterized by proximal muscle weakness, respiratory insufficiency, and unlike the infantile-onset form often with no cardiac involvement.
Methods: We report our experience with 18 adult patients (14 males/4 females) with Pompe disease, several of whom had unique findings and novel pathogenic variants.
Background: Frontal alpha asymmetry (FAA) has been widely investigated in depressive disorders (DDs) with contradictory and not conclusive results. The main aim of the current study was to explore the association between a new neurophysiological index, the so-called frontal alpha connectivity asymmetry index (FACA-I), and depressive symptoms.
Methods: One hundred and thirteen participants (45 men and 68 women, mean age: 22.
Dysfunctional parenting constitutes a factor of psychopathological vulnerability affecting development both at neurobiological and psychological level. The default mode network (DMN), a large scale network for brain functional integration, is supposed to play a crucial role in those psychological functions altered by dysfunctional parenting. Here we investigate electroencephalography DMN functional connectivity in relation to perceived dysfunctional parenting (PDP) in a non-clinical sample.

Here, the main aim was to extend previous findings investigating the association between trait anxiety and DMN EEG functional connectivity.
Methods: Twenty-three individuals with high-trait-anxiety and twenty-four controls were enrolled.

Objective: Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a widely disseminated evidence-based treatment for patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD). This evaluation of a community psychiatry residency rotation compared a DBT training program to a standard care training program to determine the levels of confidence in treating patients with BPD, willingness to treat patients with BPD, and attitudes towards this patient population.
Methods: Participants were 57 psychiatry residents who completed a 3-month community psychiatry rotation in a DBT clinic (N = 33), or standard care clinic (N = 24) based in a partial hospitalization program in a community mental health center.
Objective: Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) sometimes fails to provide a test result, usually as a result of low cell-free DNA fetal fraction. We investigated how initial fetal fraction, maternal weight, gestational age, and time between blood sampling contribute to obtaining an informative result when a redraw is performed.
Methods: We performed a retrospective data review of NIPT samples received between January and October 2016 by a commercial laboratory, where the initial blood draw did not yield a result and a second sample was drawn between 5 and 28 days after the initial sampling.
