The presentation and identification of cardiovascular disease in women pose unique diagnostic challenges compared to men, and underrecognized conditions in this patient population may lead to clinical mismanagement.This article reviews the sex differences in cardiovascular disease, explores the diagnostic and prognostic role of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in the spectrum of cardiovascular disorders in women, and proposes the added value of CMR compared to other imaging modalities. In addition, this article specifically reviews the role of CMR in cardiovascular diseases occurring more frequently or exclusively in female patients, including Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, connective tissue disorders, primary pulmonary arterial hypertension and peripartum cardiomyopathy.

We have found that lanthanide ions, europium(III) and terbium(III), are able to form polymer composites with poly(sodium acrylate). That interaction enhances the luminescent properties of europium(III) and terbium(III), showing that Eu/poly(sodium acrylate) (PSA) and Tb/PSA composites have a highly intense red and green emission, respectively.

Methods: All children <15 years admitted with a parasitologically-confirmed diagnosis of malaria from 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2017, alive at hospital discharge, and with at least one measurement of hematocrit within 28 days after hospital discharge, detected by passive case detection, were included.
Results: The overall prevalence of post-malarial anemia observed in the study was 23.
Non-Newtonian nanofluids present outstanding features in terms of energy transfer and conductivity with high application in numerous areas. In this work, non-Newtonian nanofluids based on carbon dots (Cdots) functionalized with ionic liquids (ILs) are developed. The nanofluids are produced using a simple, single-step method where the raw materials for the Cdots synthesis are glucose and waste biomass (chitin from crab shells).
