Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases worldwide and is related to serious health complications. It has been pointed out as a major risk factor for COVID-19. This study aimed to determine the impact of COVID-19 on the metabolomic profile, the correlation with the plasmatic levels of losartan and its active metabolite (EXP3174), biochemical markers, and blood pressure (BP) control in hypertensive patients.

Its classification includes acute, subacute, intermittent, chronic and bullous subtypes, which are usually identified based on clinical features and histopathological and laboratory findings. Other non-specific cutaneous manifestations may be associated with systemic lupus erythematosus and are usually related to disease activity.

Objectives: To report clinicopathological characteristics of patients with comedogenic lupus in a tertiary dermatology service over a 15-year period and review cases described in the literature.
Methods: Retrospective study of patients with clinical and histopathological diagnoses of comedogenic lupus between the years 2006 and 2021.

The objective of this work was to identify some of the molecular and physiological mechanisms responsible for the acquisition of embryogenic competence during somatic embryogenesis in Carica papaya L. We performed a broad characterization of embryogenic (EC) and nonembryogenic calli (NEC) of using global and mitochondrial proteomic approaches, histomorphology, histochemistry, respiratory activity, and endogenous hormonal and hydrogen peroxide (HO) contents.

Objective: The objective of the study was to systematically analyse the current state of research on reader studies involving melanoma and to assess their potential clinical relevance by evaluating three main aspects: test set characteristics (holdout/out-of-distribution data set, composition), test setting (experimental/clinical, inclusion of metadata) and representativeness of participating clinicians.
Methods: PubMed, Medline and ScienceDirect were screened for peer-reviewed studies published between 2017 and 2021 and dealing with AI-based skin cancer classification involving melanoma.
As the treatment of infectious and parasitic diseases improved, the prevalence of these conditions declined. However, with the expansion of the use of immunobiologicals, opportunistic infections have emerged, especially under atypical presentations. The present study reports the case of a patient treated with infliximab for Crohn's disease, who presented diarrhea, weight loss, abdominal pain, fever, and subcutaneous erythematous nodules that evolved with spontaneous fluctuation and ulceration.

The objectives were to evaluate the mechanisms for KET rapid (30 min) and long-lasting (15 and 30 days after) antidepressant effects in mice. A single dose of KET (2, 5, or 10 mg/kg, po) was administered to male Swiss mice and the forced swim test (FST) was performed 30 min, 15, or 30 days later.

Somatic embryogenesis is an important biotechnological technique for large-scale propagation of elite genotypes. Identifying stage-specific compounds associated with somatic embryo development can help elucidate the ontogenesis of Carica papaya L. somatic embryos and improve tissue culture protocols.

Classically, patients have diffuse and abrupt lymphadenopathy and organomegaly, in addition to fever, weight loss, and fatigue. Cutaneous involvement is rare and often nonspecific.

This study aimed to show the experiences and challenges of an HLA laboratory in the validation process of the NGS methodology for HLA typing and show the use of this method for the study of HLA genetic diversity.
Methods: We used 115 samples that comprised a comprehensive testing panel for validation of the NGS methodology using the AllType kit (One Lambda, Canoga Park, California) on the Ion Torrent S5 NGS platform.
Seed physiology of wild species has not been studied as deeply as that of domesticated crop species. Trichocline catharinensis (Asteraceae) is an endemic wildflower species from the high-altitude fields of southern Brazil. This species is of interest as a source of genes to improve cultivated Asteraceae because of its ornamental features, disease resistance and ability to tolerate drought and poor soil conditions.

The case reported here was only diagnosed after nine years of evolution and was associated with plasma cell dyscrasia. After treatment with cyclophosphamide, dexamethasone, and thalidomide, there was a reduction of cutaneous lesions and serum levels of monoclonal protein.

Mucosal lesions are present only in linear IgA bullous dermatosis. The elaboration of this consensus consisted of a brief presentation of the different aspects of these dermatoses and, above all, of an updated literature review on the various therapeutic options that were discussed and compared with the authors' experience, aiming at the treatment orientation of these diseases in Brazil.
