Objective: To report a case series of three patients with symptomatic coronary-subclavian steal syndrome (CSSS) and to review the literature on published case series.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed three cases of CSSS patients treated with open and endovascular surgery at a single center over a period of three decades (1996-2024). A comprehensive review of case series involving more than three patients was also performed.

Vascular Surgery Education and Training in the American Continent: Current Status and Future Directions.

Background: Despite the increasing burden of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), there is a shortage of vascular surgeons worldwide, with a higher scarcity in low- and middle-income countries. The objective of the present study was to report the current status of vascular surgery education and training on the American continent.

Methods: Official government, postgraduate medical schools, and medical associations' websites were searched for data regarding vascular surgery training positions, programs, and pathways available in the 35 countries of the American continent.

Treatment of Symptomatic Carotid Webs.

Background: The present study aims to describe the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of patients with symptomatic carotid web treated at a single institution in South America.

Methods: Retrospective study of a single-center experience of patients with carotid webs surgically treated from September 2019 to September 2023.

Pulmonary Aneurysmal Arteriovenous Malformation Treated With a Vascular Plug.

Purpose: To report a case of an asymptomatic patient with a pulmonary aneurysmal arterio-venous malformation successfully treated with a vascular plug.

Case Report: An active 30-year-old male patient, residing at 3000 ft above sea level was referred due to an incidental finding on a CT scan of a 37 mm vascular mass localized in the lower lobe of the right lung, which corresponded to a pulmonary arteriovenous malformation with a single feeding artery. The patient was treated with an Amplatzer vascular plug, which effectively excluded the afferent vessel.

Three Cases of Intracardiac Leiomyomatosis with Very Long-term Follow-up.

Uterine intravascular leiomyomatosis (IVL) with extension into the right heart is uncommon, with no more than 400 cases reported in the literature since 1907. The present study aims to report three patients with intracardiac IVL surgically treated in our institution, with long-term follow-up. Parenteral iron nutrition: Iron dextran-poloxamer thermosensitive hydrogel for prolonged intramuscular iron supplementation.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential of novel poloxamer thermosensitive hydrogels (PTHs) formulations for prolonged release of iron dextran particles (IDP) for intramuscular (IM) injection. The thermosensitive behaviour helps to avoid hepcidin overexpression and toxicity by releasing IDPs without iron accumulation in injection or deposit sites. We hypothesized that novel PTH formulation would prolong iron liberation compared to the commercial iron dextran formulation (FEDEX).

We report the case of a 60-year-old woman who sought medical attention for left cervical and supraclavicular pain and swelling. Previous computed tomography, intravascular ultrasound, and venography studies were reviewed, confirming extrinsic compression of the left innominate vein by the left common carotid artery against the left clavicle head. Stenting of the lesion was performed, with good mid-term symptom relief and patency.

Tidal disruption events (TDEs) are bursts of electromagnetic energy that are released when supermassive black holes at the centres of galaxies violently disrupt a star that passes too close. TDEs provide a window through which to study accretion onto supermassive black holes; in some rare cases, this accretion leads to launching of a relativistic jet, but the necessary conditions are not fully understood. The best-studied jetted TDE so far is Swift J1644+57, which was discovered in γ-rays, but was too obscured by dust to be seen at optical wavelengths.

Black soldier fly larvae (), mealworm larvae () and adult house crickets () are currently used in pet food. These insects are widely fed to exotic pets, mainly in whole, live or dehydrated formats.

Endovascular treatment of a right pulmonary sequestration supplied by an aneurysmal aberrant artery originating from the abdominal aorta.

Endovascular embolization of arteries feeding pulmonary sequestrations is a growing therapeutic option. A 51-year-old woman with chest pain and hemoptysis was admitted. During hospitalization she presented 150 mL hemoptysis, hypotension, and hematocrit fell to 23.

[Concentrating ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery in specialized centers].

Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (RAAA) is an arterial emergency with an overall mortality of 80%-90% secondary to massive hemorrhage. If a patient with RAAA presents in a primary hospital without resolution capacity, survival will depend on early transfer to a center with adequately trained specialists. This article reviews the evidence supporting the centralization of AAAR treatment in qualified centers, specifying the criteria used for the selection of referral centers and the role of a coordinating unit.

Impact of genomic assays on treatment and outcomes in locally advanced breast cancer.

Purpose: Genomic profiling in early-stage breast cancer provides prognostic and predictive information. Genomic profiling assays have not been validated in locally advanced breast cancer (LABC). We examined a large cancer registry to evaluate genomic profiling in LABC and its effect on treatment decisions and survival.

Acute Symptomatic Free-Floating Thrombus in the Innominate Artery, a Case Series.

Background: Innominate artery embolism may result in upper extremity ischemia or stroke. A free-floating thrombus originating from the IA is an unusual and dangerous disorder with embolic potential. Only isolated cases have been described showing different treatment modalities.

True Idiopathic Brachial Artery Aneurysm Treated With a Saphenous Vein Graft.

The objective of this study is to report a case of a 65-year-old woman who presented with pallor and pain of her left arm secondary to a true arterial brachial aneurysm, which was successfully treated with saphenous vein bypass and embolization of the aneurysm sac. Extrinsic venous compression secondary to spine osteophytes.

Objective: This study aims to report two cases of symptomatic extrinsic compression of the inferior vena cava and left iliac vein caused by vertebral osteophytes.
