Background: Collection and compilation of spatial, meteorological, entomological, and virological data are critical in mitigating climate-sensitive emerging infections like dengue. This study was a holistic attempt to understand the dengue situation in the Kasaragod district of Kerala, India.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 13 health institutions from June to July 2021.
Background: Multimorbidity or multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs), the coexistence of two or more chronic conditions within an individual, presents a growing concern for healthcare systems and individuals' well-being. However, we know little about the experiences of those living with MLTCs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) such as India. We explore how people living with MLTCs describe their illness, their engagements with healthcare services, and challenges they face within primary care settings in Kerala, India.

The study aims to investigate the immediate cause of death and risk factors of mortality including multimorbidity among patients hospitalized with SARS CoV2 infection in Kasaragod district in Kerala, India.
Methods: A record-based case-control study was done using the hospital records and follow-up surveillance system of SARS-COV 2 patients admitted in the Kasaragod district.
Setting: The southern Indian state of Kerala has implemented 'Kerala Tuberculosis Elimination Mission' as 'People's Movement against TB' under the stewardship of local governments (LGs). Background: The state of Kerala, India, has experienced several unprecedented events in the past few years. The current study was an attempt to explore perceptions of stakeholders on how the decentralised system helped during the Nipah virus (NiV) outbreaks and COVID-19 pandemic in Kerala.
Methods: This study used a qualitative descriptive approach built on the advocacy paradigm.
Background Symptoms of Covid-19 are known to be non-specific ranging from asymptomatic cases to severe illness affecting multiple organ systems. The duration of viral RNA positivity and transmission varies in individuals. We describe the association between symptom characteristics and comorbid conditions with viral RNA positivity of SARSCoV-2 affected individuals.

Background: Region-specific variations may occur in symptomatic manifestations that need to be addressed by dynamic case definitions. Environmental risk factors for dengue also vary widely across geographic settings. Our aim was to study the test positivity rate of the World Health Organization (WHO) 2009 probable dengue case definition and to suggest region-specific improvisations to it.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts of Kerala, India, spanning 3 y from 2017 to 2019. We recruited adult patients based on the World Health Organization case definition of probable dengue fever to study their virological, spatial and clinical characteristics.
Background: Rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) for animal bite victims is usually administered around the wound without the use of any anesthetic. Theoretically, the topical use of 2% lignocaine can reduce the pain during the procedure.
Objectives: This study aimed to determine the efficacy of 2% lignocaine medicated pad (LMP) for reducing pain during administration of RIG.
Objective: To understand the structures and strategies that helped Kerala in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, the challenges faced by the state and how it was tackled.
Design: Qualitative descriptive study using focus group discussions and in-depth interviews.
Setting: State of Kerala, India.
Background And Objectives: The morbidity and mortality spectrum of the south Indian state of Kerala is dominated by chronic non-communicable diseases, yet febrile illnesses because of neglected tropical diseases and emerging viral infections are often reported. As fever deaths are mostly avoidable, understanding the determinants of mortality is essential for implementing preventive measures.
Methods: A case-control study was done during an ongoing dengue outbreak in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala during 2017-18.
Introduction: Disease transmission patterns of COVID-19 have shown that masking, social distancing, contact tracing and quarantine measures are important strategies for reducing transmission. The effective implementation of quarantine is determined by the commitment of the people and monitoring by the State. The aim of the study was to find out the effectiveness of home quarantine practises and its role in determining SARS CoV2 transmission.

Kerala became the first state in India to implement a program at primary care for COPD, called the Step Wise Approach to Airway Syndrome program.
Objective: The objective of the study was to evaluate and document the implementation status of a program for obstructive airway disease (OAD) in Trivandrum district of Kerala state in India and compare the treatment characteristics of patients with OAD seeking care from the centers implementing and not implementing this program for OADs.

Prolonged ethambutol use is known to cause ocular adverse drug events (ADE).
Objectives: To assess the magnitude of ocular ADEs in adult drug sensitive TB patients initiated on daily FDCs and to describe the demographic and clinical profile of patients with ocular ADEs.
Objective: To assess the sanitary condition and water quality of household wells and to depict it spatially using Geographic Information System (GIS) in an urban area of Trivandrum, Kerala state, India.
Study Design: A community-based cross-sectional census-type study.
Methods: Study was conducted in an urban area of Trivandrum.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the world. The determinants of CVD in an urban population using conventional and geographic information system techniques were attempted as a community-based census-type cross-sectional study in Kerala, India, among 1649 individuals residing in 452 households. Sociodemographic details, risk factor exposures, and self-reported disease prevalence were determined.
