Bilateral Supernumerary Teeth Presenting as Nasal Masses and Recurrent Rhinitis: An Interesting Case Report.

The presence of a tooth inside the nasal cavity is a rare clinical entity. The exact pathophysiology is not clear and most of the times, these patients present with non-specific symptoms. Simple and innovative method of removal of unfavourable root: technical note.

Extraction of teeth is one of the most commonly performed minor oral surgical procedures. However, some clinical situations render routine extractions challenging. Here we report such a situation and a simple and innovative technique that involves the use of braided stainless steel wire to remove an unfavorable palatally inclined left upper lateral incisor with least damage to adjacent structures.

Does periodical department audit really works to make things fall in place: A Geriatric/General Oral Health Assessment Index based audit in prosthodontics.

Purpose: The purpose was to assess the outcome of improved staff supervision on the efficiency and quality of complete dentures delivered by clinical students.

Materials And Methods: The audit was performed in two parts. In the first cycle, retrospective analysis for complete dentures delivered by clinical students was undertaken, and patient's satisfaction was graded using Geriatric/General Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI).

Submental intubation in maxillofacial surgery: a prospective study.

We designed a prospective study with the objective to evaluate the efficacy, indications and our experience of submental intubation in different types of maxillofacial surgeries. From May 2008 to August 2010, 23 patients with different conditions were intubated by submental route of tracheal intubation and patients were evaluated on different parameters during and after surgery to find its efficacy, indications and utilization in maxillofacial surgeries. All the patients were managed well with this technique of intubation with no significant difference in intubation and extubation time.

Oral myiasis in an adult associated with filariasis and Hansen's disease.

Oral myiasis is a common parasitic infestation of live human and animals caused by species of dipteran fly larvae known as maggots which may be secondary to medical disease. This case involves a 51-year-old female, poorly debilitated with advanced periodontal disease infected by the dipteral larvae in the anterior maxillary region which belonged to the family Calliphoridae and Chrysomya bezziana species. This lady was neglected from her family and presented oral myiasis with the previous history of filariasis and Hansen's disease.

Cleidocranial dysplasia with hearing loss.

Cleidocranial dysplasia is an inherited skeletal anomaly that affects primarily the skull, clavicle, and dentition, which can occur spontaneously, but most are inherited in autosomal dominant mode. The skull findings are brachycephaly, delayed or failed closure of the fontanelles, presence of open skull sutures and multiple wormian bones with pronounced frontal bossing. The syndrome is notable for aplasia or hypoplasia of the clavicles.

Rhinocerebral mucormycosis--a case report.

Background: Rhinocerebral mucormycosis (RCM) is a rare, fulminating opportunistic fungal infection caused by a fungus of order Mucorales. These fungi are ubiquitus, subsisting on decaying vegetation and diverse organic material. Although fungi and spores of Mucorales show minimal intrinsic pathogenicity towards normal person, they can initiate aggressive and fulminating infection in immunocompromised host.

Awl versus intravenous cannula stillete in circummandibular wiring-a prospective comparative study.

Purpose: The management of paediatric mandibular fractures using an acrylic splint is a time-tested procedure. Traditionally, an awl is used to place wires to secure such splints. In this article, we have designed prospective study to compare a new technique of using intravenous cannula stillete (IVCS) as against conventional awl in placement of the circummandibular wires.

Endotracheal tube tailored as surgical stent--technical note.
