Juvenile recurrent parotitis.

A child in middle childhood presented with six episodes of left-sided parotitis in the last 6 months. This was associated with erythematous circinate patches of the dorsal aspect of the tongue suggestive of geographic tongue. His growth was normal with no underlying nutritional deficiencies.

N,N-Diarylsulfonamide Reduces Proinflammatory Cytokine Interleukin-6 Levels in Cells through Nuclear Factor-κB Regulation.

The arylsulfonamides were synthesized from aryl sulfonyl chloride and aromatic amines in dichloromethane in the presence of pyridine. The aryne chemistry was used to prepare diarylsulfonamide from arylsulfonamides and O-silylaryl triflate with CsF in acetonitrile at room temperature for 30 min. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for cytotoxicity followed by the cytokine/inflammatory marker's inhibition capability and its mechanism of action in RAW-264.

Gender Representation in Academic Publications of Tourette Syndrome Research: An Analysis of Authorship Trends.

Tourette syndrome, characterized by phonic and motor tics, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that significantly affects the quality of life of people with the condition. With over 1500 articles published in the last decade alone, this study aims to analyze the gender trends in publications related to Tourette syndrome from 2013 to 2022, examining the number of female authors as first authors and predicting future changes in female participation. The aim of this study is to analyze the gender trends of the first author in publications related to "Tourette Syndrome" from PubMed-indexed publications from January 2013 to December 2022.

Understanding clinical complexity in organ and organizational systems: Challenges local and global.

Introduction: Complexity in healthcare systems has been arbitrarily defined as tasks or systems ranging from complicated to intractable, with a general view of these not being 'simple'. Complexity in healthcare systems in first-world countries has been well elucidated, however, data from third-world countries is still scant. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We present four cases each from three different organ systems-chronic kidney disease, alcohol use disorder, and heart failure-in the backdrop of our healthcare organization.

Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma: A Case Report of a Rare Adolescent Head and Neck Tumor.

Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) is a rare benign head and neck tumor. We report a rare case of JNA, provide a brief literature review, and treatment options, and emphasized the role of flutamide as pre-surgical medication for tumor regression. JNA primarily affects adolescent males aged 14 to 25 years.

A reliable animal model of corneal stromal opacity: Development and validation using in vivo imaging.

Purpose: To validate an animal model of corneal stromal opacity by using objective vision-independent in vivo imaging metrics.

Methods: This was a prospective study, with two arms: (i) observational human arm which included 14 patients with healed unilateral ulcerative keratitis; and (ii) experimental rabbit arm, which included 6 New Zealand white rabbits. A 3-mm central wound was created in the left eye of the rabbits by manually removing 200-250 μm of the superficial stroma, followed by rotating-burr application.

Operative complications and economic outcomes of cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis.

Background: Recent management of acute cholecystitis favors same admission (SA) or emergent cholecystectomy based on overall shorter hospital stay and therefore cost savings. We adopted the practice of SA cholecystectomy for the treatment of acute cholecystitis at our tertiary care center and wanted to evaluate the economic benefit of this practice. We hypothesized that the existence of complications, particularly among patients with a higher degree of disease severity, during SA cholecystectomy could negate the cost savings.

Cefotaxime induced generalized bullous fixed drug eruption - A case report.

Fixed drug eruption (FDE) is the most common cutaneous adverse drug reaction. Cefotaxime, a broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin, appeared to be a safe and effective therapy in greater than 90% of infections including cellulitis, abscesses and necrotizing ulcers of the skin and subcutaneous tissues but here we report a rare case of 36 years old female patient developed generalized bullous FDE after intravenous administration of Cefotaxime.

Improving the safety of high-dose methotrexate for children with hematologic cancers in settings without access to MTX levels using extended hydration and additional leucovorin.

Background: A lack of access to methotrexate levels is common in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC), relevant for 80% of children with cancer worldwide. We evaluated whether high-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX) can be administered safely with extended hydration and leucovorin rescue, with monitoring of serum creatinine and urine pH.

Methods: The prospective study was conducted at a single centre in Chandigarh, India in 2015.

Background And Purpose: Withanolides are naturally occurring chemical compounds. They are secondary metabolites produced via oxidation of steroids and structurally consist of a steroid-backbone bound to a lactone or its derivatives. They are known to protect plants against herbivores and have medicinal value including anti-inflammation, anti-cancer, adaptogenic and anti-oxidant effects.
