[Aerogenic risk factors and diagnosis of bauxite pneumoconiosis].

The research purpose is an estimation of influence of the bauxite dust on the state of the bronchopulmonary system of workers. It has been indicated that exposure of the poor fibrogenic dust while the process of the bauxite ore extraction, results in development of pnevmokoniosis characterized by substantial ventilatory and haemodynamic disorders limiting the workability of patients.

The authors present results of thorough examination of asbestosis and dust bronchitis patients, features of dust load and X-ray functional changes, efficiency of physical therapy complexes in correcting cardio-pulmonary syndrome.

[Clinical features of pulmonary diseases caused by chrysotile asbestos dust].

The authors studied clinical, roentgenologic and functional signs of asbestosis and chronic dust bronchitis in 57 workers engaged into extraction and processing of asbestos. Occupational peripheral lung cancer was revealed in 4 cases. Chronic dust bronchitis appeared to be diagnosed with delay, usually at I-II stages.

[Atomic absorption in mercury determination by "Julia-2" analyzer and urine mercury level in children of Moscow suburbs].

The authors report on atomic absorption method determining mercury in urine. Being sensitive, with lower determination threshold of 10 nmole/l and correctness of 95.5%, the method was tested on children living in two districts of Moscow suburb.

[Clinical course of asbestosis under the existing conditions in extraction and processing of serpentine asbestos].

The authors followed changes in clinical course of asbestosis, comparing groups of individuals working in exposure to chrysotile-asbestos dust, patients having so-called late asbestosis and reference group (individuals with absent or minimal roentgenologic changes in lungs). Analysis of 530 case histories proved increase of average length of service in dusty conditions before asbestosis development, longer progression of pulmonary fibrosis. Asbestosis progression does not depend on medical resolutions.
