A naphthyl appended ninhydrin based colorimetric chemosensor for Cu ion: Detection of cysteine and ATP.

A ninhydrin-based colorimetric chemosensor (LH) was synthesized using 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic hydrazide and 11H-indeno[1,2-b]quinoxalin-11-one. It was characterized by spectroscopic and single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. In a semi-aqueous (MeOH/HEPES) system, LH displayed a characteristic chromogenic change from colorless to yellow upon adding Cu ion, with the appearance of a new peak at λ = 460 nm.

Application of 2,4,5-tris(2-pyridyl)imidazole as 'turn-off' fluorescence sensor for Cu(II) and Hg(II) ions and in vitro cell imaging.

The 2,4,5-tris(2-pyridyl)imidazole (L) molecule has been evaluated as a probe for dual sensing of Hg and Cu ions in EtOH/HEPES buffer medium (5 mM, pH = 7.34, 1:1, v/v). Probe L shows a good sensitive and selective turn-off response in the presence of both Hg and Cu ions, which is comprehensible under long UV light.

Ruthenium, osmium and rhodium complexes of 1,4-diaryl 1,4-diazabutadiene: radical versus non-radical states.

Ruthenium, osmium and rhodium complexes of 1,4-di(3-nitrophenyl)-1,4-diazabutadiene (LDAB) of types trans-[RuII(LDAB)(PPh3)2Cl2] (1), trans-[OsII(LDAB)(PPh3)2Br2] (2) and trans-[Rh(LDAB)(PPh3)2Cl2] (3) are isolated and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, mass and 1H NMR spectra including the single crystal X-ray structure determination of 1·2toluene. The α-diimine fragment of the LDAB ligand in 1·2toluene is deformed, showing a relatively longer -C=N- bond, 1.320 Å, and a shorter =CH–CH= bond, 1.

In the title compound, C28H23N3O2, the pyrazole ring makes a dihedral angle of 16.90 (6)° with the phenyl ring to which it is attached. Both di-hydro-pyran rings exhibit half-chair conformations.

Cu(NO3)2.3H2O-mediated synthesis of 4'-(2-pyridyl)-2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine (L2) from N-(2-pyridylmethyl)pyridine-2-methylketimine (L1). A C-C bond-forming reaction and the structure of {[Cu(L2)(OH)(NO3)][Cu(L2)(NO3)2]}.2H2O.

N-(2-Pyridylmethyl)pyridine-2-methylketimine (L1) was synthesized from equimolar quantities of (2-pyridyl)methylamine and 2-acetylpyridine. Methanolic solution of L1 reacted readily with Cu(NO3)2.3H2O in air, affording green solid of composition {[Cu(L2)(OH)(NO3)][Cu(L2)(NO3)2]}.
