Atomic migration of silicon through grain boundaries of a thin polycrystalline Cu film and island formation on the Cu surface were studied in the temperature range of 403-520 K. Samples used in these experiments was prepared on Si(111) wafers by room temperature magnetron sputtering and they consisted of amorphous Si layer (80 nm) and polycrystalline Cu layer (40 nm). The silicon layer served as the source layer of diffusion, while the copper surface was the accumulation surface.

We describe the magnetic properties of thin iron films deposited on the nanoporous titanium oxide templates and analyze their dependance on nanopore radius. We then compare the results to a continuous iron film of the same thickness. Additionally, we investigate the evolution of the magnetic properties of these films after annealing.

Objective: The aim of this study was to perform psychometric testing of the Growth Hormone Deficiency-Child Impact Measure (GHD-CIM): a patient-reported outcome (PRO) for children with GHD aged 9 to < 13 years and an observer-reported outcome (ObsRO) for parents/guardians of children who are unable to answer for themselves.

Somapacitan is a long-acting, once-weekly, albumin-binding growth hormone (GH) derivative. The reversible albumin-binding properties leads to prolonged circulation half-life. Here, we investigated and compared somapacitan with human GH on downstream receptor signaling in primary hepatocytes and hepatocellular models and using isothermal titration calorimetry to characterize receptor binding of somapacitan in the presence or absence of human serum albumin (HSA).

Turoctocog alfa (NovoEight®) is a recombinant factor VIII (rFVIII) with a truncated B-domain made from the sequence coding for 10 amino acids from the N-terminus and 11 amino acids from the C-terminus of the naturally occurring B-domain. Turoctocog alfa is produced in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells without addition of any human- or animal-derived materials. During secretion, some rFVIII molecules are cleaved at the C-terminal of the heavy chain (HC) at amino acid 720, and a monoclonal antibody binding C-terminal to this position is used in the purification process allowing isolation of the intact rFVIII.

The mechanism of magnetization reversal in single-domain ferromagnetic particles is of interest in many applications, in most of which losses must be minimized. In cancer therapy by hyperthermia the opposite requirement prevails: the specific loss power should be maximized. Of the mechanisms of dissipation, here we study the effect of Néel relaxation on magnetic nanoparticles unable to move or rotate and compare the losses in linearly and circularly polarized fields.

Small peptides, such as glucagon and glucagon-like-peptides (GLP-1 and GLP-2), featuring an open structure are particularly accessible for proteolytic degradation during fermentation. An alpha-factor leader/insulin precursor fusion protein was produced in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and metabolically labeled in order to analyse the efficiency of maturation and secretion. A substantial fraction of the secreted material was found in a hyperglycosylated unprocessed form, indicating incomplete Kex2p endopeptidase maturation. Introduction of a spacer peptide (EAEAEAK) after the dibasic Kex2p site, creating a N-terminal extension of the insulin precursor, greatly increased the Kex2p catalytic efficiency and the fermentation yield of insulin precursor.
