Nano-ridge engineering (NRE) is a novel method to monolithically integrate III-V devices on a 300 mm Si platform. In this work, NRE is applied to InGaP/GaAs heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs), enabling hybrid III-V/CMOS technology for RF applications. The NRE HBT stacks were grown by metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy on 300 mm Si (001) wafers with a double trench-patterned oxide template, in an industrial deposition chamber.

This may be partly caused by a diversion of mesenchymal cells towards adipocytes rather than osteoblast lineage cells. We hypothesized that microstructural deterioration would be associated with an increased marrow adiposity, and each of these traits would be independently associated with nonvertebral fractures and improve discrimination of women with fractures from controls over that achieved by femoral neck (FN) areal bone mineral density (aBMD) alone.

Purpose: Using an ovine model of microdiscectomy, the present study investigated the relative potential of pentosan polysulfate-primed mesenchymal progenitor cells (pMPCs) or MPC alone implanted into the lesion site to facilitate disc recovery.
We present processing methods and visualization techniques for accurately characterizing and interpreting kinematical data of flexion-extension motion of the knee joint based on helical axes. We make use of the Lie group of rigid body motions and particularly its Lie algebra for a natural representation of motion sequences. This allows to analyze and compute the finite helical axis (FHA) and instantaneous helical axis (IHA) in a unified way without redundant degrees of freedom or singularities.

We used laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) to map the three-dimensional concentrations and distributions of transition metals, in particular iron (Fe), copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) within the murine brain. LA-ICP-MS is one of the leading analytical tools for measuring metals in tissue samples.

Pre-pregnancy counselling is recommended but the format of the counselling process and the experience of the patient have never been assessed. This study examines the experience of women with chronic kidney disease attending pre-pregnancy counselling and evaluates their pregnancy outcomes.

In addition, with increasing numbers of young women living with renal transplants and kidney disease, it is important for physicians to be aware of the effects of pregnancy on these diseases. A multidisciplinary approach is essential to assess and care for pregnant women with kidney disease.

It is widely believed that replacing lost SNc DA neurons is a key to longer-term effective treatment of PD motor symptoms, but generating new SNc DA neurons in PD patients has proven difficult. Following loss of tyrosine hydroxylase-positive (TH+) SNc neurons in the rodent 6-hydroxy-DA (6-OHDA) model of PD, the number of TH+ neurons partially recovers and there is evidence this occurs via phenotype "shift" from TH- to TH+ cells.
