Synthetic computed tomography (sCT) generated from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can serve as a substitute for planning CT in radiation therapy (RT), thereby removing registration uncertainties associated with multi-modality imaging pairing, reducing costs and patient radiation exposure. CE/FDA-approved sCT solutions are nowadays available for pelvis, brain, and head and neck, while more complex deep learning (DL) algorithms are under investigation for other anatomic sites. The main challenge in achieving a widespread clinical implementation of sCT lies in the absence of consensus on sCT commissioning and quality assurance (QA), resulting in variation of sCT approaches across different hospitals.

Background And Purpose: Magnetic resonance (MR)-only radiotherapy (RT) workflow eliminates uncertainties due to computed tomography (CT)-MR image registration, by using synthetic CT (sCT) images generated from MR. Pubertal delay can be due to hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (HH), which may occur in association with anosmia or hyposmia and is known as Kallmann syndrome (OMIM #308700). Recently, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism has been suggested to overlap with Witteveen-Kolk syndrome (WITKOS, OMIM #613406) associated with 15q24 microdeletions encompassing . Purpose: We present the nanoCluE model, which uses nano- and microdosimetric quantities to model RBE for protons and carbon ions. Under the hypothesis that nano- and microdosimetric quantities correlates with the generation of complex DNA double strand breakes, we wish to investigate whether an improved accuracy in predicting LQ parameters may be achieved, compared to some of the published RBE models.

Background: The globally dominant treatment with curative intent for locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) with subsequent esophagectomy. This multimodal treatment leads to around 60% overall 5-year survival, yet with impaired post-surgical quality of life. Observational studies indicate that curatively intended chemoradiotherapy, so-called definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT) followed by surveillance of the primary tumor site and regional lymph node stations and surgery only when needed to ensure local tumor control, may lead to similar survival as nCRT with surgery, but with considerably less impairment of quality of life.

Different studies suggest that the strategies and narrative styles that people use to construct their autobiographical accounts have repercussions on their self-organization, as well as on their identity experience and their conception of the world. Empirical evidence supports changes in different aspects related to process, structure, and content in the narrative of clients during the course of the therapeutic process; these, in turn, seem to condition the course and the results of the process. In this paper we will seek to show, based on a case study and through the application of a method of phenomenological-narrative analysis, what are the predominant narrative strategies that a client uses in order to shape her autobiographical narrative in the initial and final moments of her psychotherapeutic process.

The linear-quadratic (LQ) parameterization of survival fraction [SF( D)] inherently assumes that all cells in a population receive the same dose ( D), albeit the distribution of specific energy z over the individual cells f( z, D) can be very wide. From these microdosimetric distributions, which are target size dependent, we estimate the size of the cellular sensitive volume by analyzing its influence on the LQ parameterization of cell survival.
