A short review of alternative ingredients and technologies of inorganic UV filters.

Background: The growing need to use sunscreens is a concrete reality, and it is associated with the increase in the population's awareness of the ultraviolet (UV) radiation damage. Inorganic UV filters promote the formation of particles/pigments film over the skin surface, reflecting, dispersing, and absorbing the radiation. Investigations of this class of filters demonstrate the emergence of alternative ingredients and new technologies.

Search for physics beyond the standard model in events with jets and two same-sign or at least three charged leptons in proton-proton collisions at .

A data sample of events from proton-proton collisions with at least two jets, and two isolated same-sign or three or more charged leptons, is studied in a search for signatures of new physics phenomena. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of at a center-of-mass energy of , collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search is performed using a total of 168 signal regions defined using several kinematic variables.

Measurements of tt[over ¯]H Production and the CP Structure of the Yukawa Interaction between the Higgs Boson and Top Quark in the Diphoton Decay Channel.

The first observation of the tt[over ¯]H process in a single Higgs boson decay channel with the full reconstruction of the final state (H→γγ) is presented, with a significance of 6.6 standard deviations (σ). The CP structure of Higgs boson couplings to fermions is measured, resulting in an exclusion of the pure CP-odd structure of the top Yukawa coupling at 3.

Study of central exclusive production in proton-proton collisions at and 13TeV.

Central exclusive and semiexclusive production of pairs is measured with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at the LHC at center-of-mass energies of 5.02 and 13TeV. The theoretical description of these nonperturbative processes, which have not yet been measured in detail at the LHC, poses a significant challenge to models.

Role of Histamine as a Peripheral Sympathetic Neuromediator and its Interrelation with Substance P.

This article is an educational review about the fundamental aspects related to the proposal of the existence of a peripheral sympathetic reflex regulated by histamine, through its effect on presynaptic H3 type receptors, under the interaction of a sensory neuron that would be mediated by Substance P. In this respect, we consider it useful to highlight the role of histamine, so we discuss some aspects about its history, metabolism, and function, as well as its interaction with H3 type receptors that are considered as neuroreceptors, which define and typify it as a neuromediator at both levels of the nervous system, central and peripheral.

Secondary syphilis with liver involvement in a liver transplant recipient.

Syphilis is capable of compromising almost any organ; however, syphilitic hepatitis is a rare manifestation that has been described most often in HIV-infected patients. Herein, we present a 33-year-old male liver transplant recipient who presented with progressive liver dysfunction characterized by mild ALT elevation and rising cholestasis, malaise, skin rash, and alopecia. Skin biopsy was characteristic of secondary syphilis, confirmed by both skin and liver biopsy-positive immunohistochemical staining for Treponema pallidum.

The Use of Advance Directives in Specialized Care Units: A Focus Group Study With Healthcare Professionals in Madrid.

Eight focus groups were conducted in four public hospitals in Madrid to explore healthcare professionals' perceptions of advance directives (ADs) in order to improve the understanding of their lack of success among physicians and patients. A purposive sample of sixty healthcare professionals discussed ADs and reasons for their infrequent use. Three main themes were identified: perceptions about their meaning, appraisals of their use in clinical practice, and decision-making about them.

The effectiveness and safety of ixekizumab in psoriasis patients under clinical practice conditions: A Spanish multicentre retrospective study.

The objective of the study was to evaluate efficacy and safety of ixekizumab in psoriasis patients under clinical practice conditions. Observational, retrospective, multicentre study that included patients with ixekizumab from March 2017 to March 2019. ≥ 90% reduction in the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI 90) and absolute PASI <2 were the parameters used to assess treatment response.

Anti-Aging Effect of Metformin: A Molecular and Therapeutical Perspective.

Aging is a time-dependent inevitable process, in which cellular homeostasis is affected, which has an impact on tissue function. This represents a risk factor for the development of numerous non-transmissible diseases. In consequence, the scientific community continues to search for therapeutic measures capable of improving quality of life and delaying cellular aging.

In vivo SPF from multifunctional sunscreen systems developed with natural compounds-A review.

Background: The use of sunscreens is mandatory, especially in countries with high ultraviolet (UV) incidence. In consequence, there has been a growing interest in using compounds from natural sources to develop new multifunctional products that protect human skin from the consequences of UV exposition. Even though there are in vitro methods to determine anti-UV efficacy, it is still required to test photoprotection activity on human skin to validate product performance.

A prospective study to validate the functional assessment of cancer therapy (FACT) for epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor (EGFRI)-induced dermatologic toxicities FACT-EGFRI 18 questionnaire: SWOG S1013.

Background: Papulopustular rash is a common class effect of epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRI) that can affect patients' health-related quality of life and cause disruptions to treatment. SWOG S1013 (NCT01416688) is a multi-center study designed to validate the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy EGFRI 18 (FACT-EGFRI 18) using 7-items from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) version 4.0 to assess EGFRI-induced skin-related toxicities and their impact on functional status.

Exploring Phytotherapeutic Alternatives for Obesity, Insulin Resistance and Diabetes Mellitus.

At present, the pathologic spectrum of obesity-insulin resistance (IR)-diabetes mellitus (DM) represents not only a pressing matter in public health but also a paramount object of study in biomedical research, as they constitute major risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD), and other chronic non-communicable diseases (NCD). Phytotherapy, the use of medicinal herbs (MH) with treatment purposes, offers a wide array of opportunities for innovation in the management of these disorders; mainly as pharmacological research on small molecules accumulates. Several MH has displayed varied mechanisms of action relevant to the pathogenesis of obesity, IR and DM, including immunological and endocrine modulation, reduction of inflammation and oxidative stress (OS), regulation of appetite, thermogenesis and energy homeostasis, sensitisation to insulin function and potentiation of insulin release, among many others.

Anisotropies in the initial energy density distribution of the quark-gluon plasma created in high energy heavy ion collisions lead to anisotropies in the azimuthal distributions of the final-state particles known as collective anisotropic flow. Fourier harmonic decomposition is used to quantify these anisotropies. The higher-order harmonics can be induced by the same order anisotropies (linear response) or by the combined influence of several lower order anisotropies (nonlinear response) in the initial state.

A case of an Infant with SARS-CoV-2 hepatitis early after liver transplantation.

We present a case of a pediatric liver transplant recipient diagnosed with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection four days after receiving a living donor liver allograft from her mother. The recipient was a 6-month-old with end-stage liver disease due to biliary atresia and failed Kasai. The infant had an uncomplicated implantation, excellent graft function and down-trending liver enzymes until developing fevers, diarrhea, and moderate respiratory distress requiring non-invasive respiratory support.

Aims: Considering the biological properties of Shea butter (Butyrospermum parkii), we assessed its potential as an adjuvant in a molded lipstick sunscreen system by in vivo tests and photostability.

Constraints on the χ_{c1} versus χ_{c2} Polarizations in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=8 TeV.

The polarizations of promptly produced χ_{c1} and χ_{c2} mesons are studied using data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=8  TeV. The χ_{c} states are reconstructed via their radiative decays χ_{c}→J/ψγ, with the photons being measured through conversions to e^{+}e^{-}, which allows the two states to be well resolved. The polarizations are measured in the helicity frame, through the analysis of the χ_{c2} to χ_{c1} yield ratio as a function of the polar or azimuthal angle of the positive muon emitted in the J/ψ→μ^{+}μ^{-} decay, in three bins of J/ψ transverse momentum.

Phytotherapy for Cardiovascular Disease: A Bench-to-Bedside Approach.

At present, cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and global trends suggest that this panorama will persist or worsen in the near future. Search for direct pair production of supersymmetric partners to the lepton in proton-proton collisions at .

A search is presented for slepton pairs produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 . The search is carried out in events containing two leptons in the final state, on the assumption that each slepton decays primarily to a lepton and a neutralino. Events are considered in which each lepton decays to one or more hadrons and a neutrino, or in which one of the leptons decays instead to an electron or a muon and two neutrinos.
