[Effect of met- and leu-enkephalins and their synthetic analog on stimulation and acupunture analgesia].

Experiments on unrestrained rats were carried out to study the effect of intraventricularly injected met- and leu-enkephalins and their synthetic analog Tyr-dAla-Cly-Phe-NH2 on analgesia induced by electrical stimulation of the central gray. It was shown that subanalgesic doses of enkephalins and their synthetic analog facilitated the appearance of analgesic action on subthreshold antinociceptive-brain stimulation and potentiated the analgesic effect of threshold central gray stimulation. Subanalgesic and low analgesic doses of the peptides increased antinociceptive effect of electroacupuncture.

[Transformation of the cytoplasmic processes in desmosome formation in the normal multilayer squamous epithelium and in cervical carcinoma in situ].

Cytoplasmatic processes of human normal cervical epithelium cells and of carcinoma in situ lesions were examined; transmission and scanning electron microscopy were used. Microvilli, microspikes and microplicae were predominant in various layers of normal squamous epithelium. It is suggested that transformation of microvilli into microspikes and then into microplicae accompanied the formation and disassembly of desmosomes in the normal epithelium.

[Microtubule-independent cell surface stabilization in normal and transformed connective tissue cells].

Effects of colcemid on the distribution of pseudopodial activity in both normal and transformed connective tissue cells was studied by means of phase contrast microscopy and time-lapse cinematography. It was shown that normal as well as transformed fibroblasts are able to stabilize their surface independently on the presence of colcemid, however, in transformed cells this ability is more expressed. Possible mechanisms of this stabilization of cellular surface, independent on microtubules is discussed.

[Method for the objective evaluation of the state of the esophageal mucosa in reflux esophagitis (based on target biopsy data)].

A method for objective evaluation of a complex of histological changes of esophageal mucosa is proposed for increasing the reliability of the diagnosis. The method is based on the determination of quantitative similarity of the histological changes detected in the patient with the reference ones. This enables the histomorphologist to overcome the difficulties encountered in determining the degree of intensity of the inflammatory process and to apply computer techniques to timely and correct diagnosis of reflux esophagitis.

[Possibility of modulating morphine analgesia against a background of activation of serotonin- and GABA-ergic processes].

[Effect of electroacupuncture on signs of emotional stress caused by pain].

The experiments on male white rats have shown that electroacupuncture of the point analog Da-Djuy abolished the consequences of pain-induced acute emotional stress. [Morphology of the microtubule system in mouse kidney epithelial cells].

The cultured mouse kidney cells forming epithelial sheets were studied using an indirect immunofluorescence microscopy with antibodies against tubulin. These cells, as well as fibroblasts, were found to contain a well developed microtubular system sensitive to colcemid. The assembly of microtubules after washing out of colcemid began from one or two perinuclear centers, associated with the cilium-like structure.

[Analgesic activity of probon compared to morphine].

The analgetic action of probone as compared to that of morphine was studied in chronic tests on cats. Changes in individual signs of a complex reaction in response to a graded stimulation of the cutaneous nerve were assessed. Probone in doses of 50--150 mg/kg and morphine in doses of 2--4 mg/kg raised the threshold of the flexor reflex and reduced manifestations of the emotional-behavioral and vegeto-motor reactions of the animals.

[Effect of agents disrupting microtubules on the distribution of receptors on the surface of cultured cells].

Substrate-attached normal mouse fibroblasts, transformed mouse fibroblasts (L-strain) and epithelial cells (MPTR strain) were incubated with two ligands that are cross-linking different group of the surface receptors: concanavalin A and cationic ferritin. Surface-attached ligands were revealed by the indirect immunofluorescent methods. The incubation of control cells with these ligands induced a patching of corresponding surface receptors, and a clearing of these receptors from the surface zones located on the lamellar cytoplasm near the cell edges actively protruding pseudopodia.
